April 14, 201214 yr I have a copy of Flight Sim 2004 "backed up" on a separate hard drive on my PC, ( in case of emergency ). Well, I had an emergency. Following the PC crash, I rebuilt the operating system, ( Windows XP Pro ), and I reinstalled FS9, and transferred the backed up version to my main hard drive. It works fine, but my Afterburner and Smoke Effects have disappeared. My Textures are all present, and so are the Effects themselves. I think it's some sort of "Gauge" or "Config" problem. Trouble is, it's affecting EVERY aircraft I have, that previously showed the afterburner and smokes effects properly. The same "assignment keys" assigned before, are assigned now. So, that's not the problem either. Can anyone out there help me? This happened once before, ( years ago ), and the solution was simple. Someone came up with it. I just don't remember the solution. Thanks very much....... Russ.
April 25, 201214 yr Author The multiple pleas for assistance were a transmission error, ( I was repeatedly logged off during the "send" phase of my request for help ). So, the multiple transmissions were my error. I still need help, though. I haven't gotten any. PLEASE? Someone?....... Thanks.
April 25, 201214 yr Those effects, are usually files installed in the effects folders (.fx files) My guess is you probably had them before because it was installed with one of your addons. When you reinstalled, you lost them. You need either to identify where you got those .fx files and replace them, or you may be able to find a substitute effect file in the library.
