April 17, 201214 yr Commercial Member I posted htis over on the NGX forum but my question is related to FSX in general... From what I have heard, FSX does not allow undocked panels in fullsceen!? I have FSX but never tried it since my home cockpit has been based on FS9. Here's my setup, 50inch LCD running the VC (Fullscreen) 3x 15inch screens running PFD ND plus EICAS (fullscreen) Is this even possible in FSX? if not why the step backwards? Cheers Rob Prest
April 17, 201214 yr Of course, if the particular aircraft has 2d panels, as not all do, simply drag the panle to where you want it to sit. In the NGX I drag the ND and CDU to a second monitor and let the ATC window reside in the bottom right of the main monitor. When flying GA I drag the Garmin GPS across to a second monitor too, all this is in fullscreen mode. What FSX does not allow, is windows from a second program to be used while in fullscreen mode, this is definitley a restriction peculiar to FSX. With the NGX you can run PFD ND plus EICAS in fullscreen mode on a second monitor, if you are using the NGX's 2D panels. However, if you wish to use a third party's instruments while in fullscreen mode then you will have to use a separate program such as WIDEFS (I think I am correct on this score but happy to be corrected) and run them across a network. April 17, 201214 yr Author Commercial Member Perfect, thanks a lot mate. I don't care about external programs since I have networked PC's connected to the main sim. As long as PMDG's own panels can be undocked and run as full screen then it's all good. Rob Prest
April 17, 201214 yr EDIT: One thing I have to correct myself with Rob, unsure about the EICAS but there is no 2d panel for the PFD or the ND with the NGX, however they are undockable from the VC by simply clicking the click spot. Alternatively, you can simply undock the FO's displays and use them on a second monitor, that's what I do. April 17, 201214 yr Author Commercial Member Yeath thats fine, with the 777 all I need is the EICAS screens and FMC, if they add a popup for the MCP & Engine start switches like the MD11 then that would be bonus. Thanks again Rob Prest
April 17, 201214 yr Well, there IS a way to run FSX in fullscreen with Windows applications on other screens in the same time. There is a programm called PseudoFullScreen. I do not exactly know how it works and how to use it, but as far as I know, you start FSX using the Pseudofullscreen program, then FSX opens. Make sure FSX is in windowed mode first, but because you're using Pseudofullscreen, FSX will look exactly like it's in fullscreen, (no task bar or anything visible on the edges), but it's still in windowed mode, however it looks exactly like fullscreen.
