April 22, 201214 yr Good morning folks, Im going to be starting a new build soon, consisting of a z77 mobo, i5 2500k(o/clocked to 4.5) 8 g of samsung 1600 ram, nh-d14 cooler, now im just debating what card to get myself, - and without wanting to start an nvidia/ati war, what is the card to use for the moment? - i might stretch myself to a 580 gtx, what do you guys think? i read somewhere that nvidia is more suited to fsx than what ati is - something to do with ati has faster shader processors, but nvidia had better ??? i cant remember what it was. Also, im going from xp32 to windows 7 64, is there any issues i should know about prior to getting my o/s? regards paul can a mod please delete one of these posts please, - unsure why its posted twice :) Paul Westcott
April 23, 201214 yr The GTX 580 is a great choice, especially if you run high Anti-Aliasing and Super Grid Supersampling (or whatever it's called :LMAO ) then the GTX 580 is a monster with FSX! However if you don't really care about these settings, and just use FSX's default AA and texture filtering, then a GTX 560Ti will perform identical. I just depends on what you want. If you're gonna buy your OS, I'd recommend gettnig the full version. If you get an OEM version (Original Equipment Manufacturer) then you can only install it on one pc, if you try to install it on a newer PC, or if you try to install it after you replaced your motherboard (even if it's exactly the same type) then the activation code will not work. OEM versions lock to the motherboard, so you can only use it for that particular motherboard and for nothing else. The Full Version however, can be installed on multiple PC's but comes with an extra price of course. It's also completely useless to buy Ultimate or Professional. Home Premium is perfectly fine, and as long as it's 64-bit it will perform the same as every other windows version. Arjen Vandervelde
