Featured Replies

Hey everyone! Sorry for posting here but i cannot ask on a.net. i really hope this posted under the right forum! Appologies if not

I am curious to find out what the various test flights from boeing means? For instance a B1 test flight or a C1 test flight?

Example on the page linked there is a 747-8i returning from a C1 flight

Please if anyone could direct me to a page explaning eruthing it would be mich appreciated! I tried searching myself but cannot find anything! Thanks in advance!

"B" test flights are the ones Boeing does for making sure they are ready for when the customer comes and picks them up. They start off with B1 flight and if something is wrong and needs to be fixed then they go to B2 and so on if there are more problems. I think the most they do are B3 flights where something must be really wrong. I've only heard about a handful of those.

"C" test flights are when the customer airline pilots are flying the aircraft. This is an acceptance flight to make sure everything works and they are ready to receive delivery of the aircraft for their airline. They usually have several different people go through checks of all operational aspects of the aircraft from flying it, flight attendant stations and cargo and baggage loading. These generally have more then one flight because the customer wants to make sure everything is perfect and that the aircraft can go directly into revenue service.
