FSD Pilatus PC6 Installation Problems?

Featured Replies

First of all, I am trying to put this on the FSD forum, but am waiting for confirmation that my registration toward that end has been accepted by FSD. I imagine it will get more exposure here anyway.

I recently upgraded to a new P8Z68 Deluxe/Gen3 motherboard, 2700K CPU, Mushkin 997057 Memory and GTX580 Video Card. I also upgraded from WinXPPro 64bit to Win7 64bit. I reinstalled and setup FSX and everything seems to be going swimingly there.

I am now in the last stages of my setup and reinstallation of FS9 along with all of my addons for that FS.

I have the FSD Pilatus PC6 Porter, Piper Cheyenne 400LS, and Piper navajo Panther, all first generation versions.

1. No problem with the Piper Cheyenne even using an installer that is three years old. This installation confirmed my license in the FSD Aircraft License Information Log in the FS9 Aircraft folder. Don't know if this was even needed, but this plane is back to normal and flying just fine. I downloaded the newest installer for this bird but never used it as everything seems to be working ok.

2.Whale of a hassle with the Navajo, Tried an Old installation downloaded at the same time as the one that worked for the Cheyenne, but could not select the plane in FS9. It did make an entry of the license confirmationin in the log. After several tries including copying an old license ok from my backup, I finally deleted everything relative to the Navajo and downloaded another copy of the latest installer. Installed it and the bird works fine now. To my surprise there is no reference to it in the license log, so apparently that is not necessary with the latest FSD installers.

3. The Pilatus PC6 Porter is my problem: I downloaded the latest installer from FSD and made the installation. The installation completed with the finish screen telling me that it was installed with no problem. All files appear to be installed in the aircraft folder with the following exception. There is no license line item confirmation in the FSD log file at the bottom of the Aircraft Folder (but judging from the Navajo above, I doubt that it is still relavant or needed). At any rate, I then deleted everything to do with this bird and tried installing with the installer for this bird downloaded three years ago at the same time I downloaded the Cheynne installer that worked. It put a line item in the FSD log confirming the license for this installtion but I still could not select this aircraft. I deleted everything to do with this bird, downloaded the latest installer again, and started over three times.

No matter what I have tried, when I select this bird in FS9, I get an error window which states: "Error 1029, Your Porter license could not be located. Reinstallation is recommended." I even tried copying the license line from the old log in my backup from the previous system. Same thing.

I remember having quite a hassle with this installation in years past, but cannot really remember what the problems were, or what my solution was. If anyone knows a solution, I sure would appreciate it.

Respectfully:

RTH

I wish I could help you but this is the exact reason I stopped buying stuff from them all those years back. I understand developers needing to protect their software but I always had hassles getting stuff I paid for to work with them (and was always downloading installers and so on).

Hopefully they will get back to you. I remember it took forever for them to do it for me.
