May 3, 201214 yr I know STO has to do something with the altimeter in the PMDG 737ngx someone told me that from takeoff you have to used STO instead of the altimeter that gives you 29.92 to used STO instead ontil you pass transition altitude. So do i do the same for the airbus when am decending to? Which would be correct STO or the normal Altimeter Setting 29.92 for landing ? May 3, 201214 yr If you are referring to STD, it basically means that above a certain transition level (TL), which is FL180 in the U.S., the altimeter default is 29.92 (STD). Below the TL, you ahve to set the altimeter to local conditions. That altimeter readout is given by ATC. Having a single reading above the TL, ensures standardization and safety for all the aircraft at or above that level. It doesn't matter whether it's Boeing, Airbus, or any other make for that matter.
