need a default file (no Haute Normandie backups, grrrr)

Featured Replies

Can anyone email me or PM me the default file for scenery/global/scenery/roof_3DA.BGL? I don't want to do a full restore from the disc when I know exactly the 1 file I need to replace.

This problem comes from the fact that FranceVFR's Haute Normandie product alters some of the autogen files and does not seem to provide backups - at least not on my system although the manual says backups are made but does not specify where. Removing the product does not return my default autogen objects (trees are most noticeable). I have had people over at FSDeveloper point me to locations where backup folders are said to exist (one proved it with screenshots) but I've not seen any appear after several installs, most recently to a new clean install of FSX after reformatting my computer.

If anyone else with Haute Normandie can show me they have autogen back up files please do, so I know it's just me being stupid somehow. Thanks

There is no default roof_3DA.BGL in scenery/global/scenery/ but a default roofs.bgl only. Is that what you need? It's from 2007. Seems like the installer also changes the default textures for trees, not only adds that bgl. Things like veg_Broadleaf_ChestnutMaple.DDS.

Well that's a relief then. I just deleted the file.

Since I just reformatted and re-installed FSX and already knew about the issue I backed up all the files in my /autogen and /scenery/global/texture folders prior to installing, so all those I replaced fine I just missed that one file but now that's not an issue. Cool.

Sounds like you have it as well? Any backups on your machine?

That was the fun part. I don't have any backup folders either, so the installer has left them out or placed somewhere else. I can't see anything like the one guy from the other thread. I just have my default FSX folders in the backup for those sort of things as France VFR may not be the only dev shooting first and asking later.

The addon is a treat though, very nice work and top notch optics. A fresh review on it for the guys interested. http://www.simflight.com/2012/05/04/france-vfr-haute-normandie-vfr-for-fsx-review/

Hi, same issue here. Missing autogen trees. Maybe there are also some buildings missing. After a fresh installation/reinstallation of haute Normandie 3D all autogen is visible, restarting computer, autogen is lost. Is there any solution or reason?

my autogen never went missing, the type of textures just never changed back to the way they were

I may be alone on this one, but I would appreciate if the scenery devs wouldn't use some of the tricks with the default autogen definitions. I have some addons making use of it and they all look very nice indeed, but it's a pain, sometimes impossible, to make them work all together.
