May 6, 201214 yr Hello All I'm attempting to replicate the real world operation of the two parallel runways at Spain's, Palma Mallorca (LEPA) LEPA has two runways: 06L - 24R 06R - 24L When the wind comes from the west, planes should take off from 24R and land on 24L. When the wind blows from the opposite direction, planes should land on 06L and take off from 06R. Currently, LEPA is receiving predominantly westerly direction winds, but I cannot get traffic to land on 24L - all traffic still wants to takeoff and land on 24R, with 24L being completely ignored. Using ADE, I have tried the following: 1) Close 24R for landing - traffic still lands / takes off on 24R; 2) Remove (orphan) ILS on 24R - traffic still lands / takes off on 24R; 3) Shorten the length of 24R so that it's less than 24L - traffic still lands / takes off on 24R; 4) Remove all taxiway runoffs from 24R - traffic now lands / takes off on 06L; 5) Close both 06L and 24R for landings - traffic now lands correctly on 24L and takes off on 24R, but traffic would incorrectly use 06R for landings when easterlies are blowing; In conclusion, it would appear that I can get symmetrical parallel runways to function, but not asymmetrical parallel runways. As most of the traffic flying into LEPA arrives from the north, it would appear that if either 06L or 24R are available for landing, and being the most northerly, these are the runways that are used. Can any one help with my setup, or is it just to possible to do what I'm attempting !!!?? Any help much appreciated Gary
May 6, 201214 yr I'm pretty sure you would need 2 afcads, one for west ops, and one for east ops. I use Gary Summons' Manchester which has parallel runway ops, and this requires 2 afcads for correct operations, depending on prevailing winds. Having said that, I also have aerosoft's LEPA and I think the included afcad uses the correct runways in both wind conditions. The only closed runway is 06R, which is the primary for 06R/24L. Hope that helps!
