I've looked through most of the archives on this subject and couldn't find my specific issue.

 

After a successful flight I'm back at the Free Flight screen. I click on Flight Planner to load another saved flight. It loads it then I click on Fly Now button, the Terrain Loading box comes up, reaches a random percentage each time and stops. After waiting for approximately 5 minutes I bring up Windows Task Manager to see what is going on. It shows Flight Simulator running. I close Task Manager and wait another 5 minutes then bring up Task Manager again and it still shows as running. At this point I give up and end the Flight Simulator X task. This happens every time I try to do 2 flights without exiting FSX. I even tried forcing FSX to load a new fsx.cfg by renaming the old one. This didn't help either.

 

I'm running Windows 7 SP1.

Processor: AMD FX-8120 Eight-Core Processor, 3.10 GHz

RAM: 8.00 GB

System: 64-bit Operating System

Display: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 550 Ti with 1GB VRAM

 

I reset ALL settings to FSX defaults to see if this would fix the problem and it didn't.

 

I don't have any add-on scenery files.

Was the flight plan developed with the FSX flight planner or an external flight planner like FS Build? OR,

 

Did you save a flight while in mid-air then try to go back and reload the flight? What aircraft did you select? Does it happen with another aircraft? This is a known problem with the first version of the PMDG 737NGX (but fixed in a subsequent SP).

 

If you can, attach a copy of the flight plan or open up the plan (located in your Documents\Flight Simulator X Files folder) with Notepad, copy the contents, then paste the results here so we can see if we can duplicate the event.

 

What version of FSX is installed? FSX with SP1, SP2, or FSX Acceleration?

 

Since this really wasn't a CTD, you would get better responses by posting this in the FSX Forum (if I can't figure it out).

Flight plan developed with FSX flight planner.

Aircraft: Boeing 737-400 (the one that ships with the FSX software). Haven't tried other aircraft.

 

FSX version 10.0.61344 using SP1.

Okay, have them saved and will try them out as soon as possible. Is there any reason why you did not upgrade to SP2? It's free. It updates the code to FSX to fix some issues with the basic FSX and provides better performance and has many other enhancements too. In any case, I'll get back to you soon.

I'm back! I had to reformat your flight plans based on FSX xml format and your plan was way out of whack. Even after I formatted it in the same format as my plans (with the proper spacing), your plan still would not show up. These airports you depart from and fly to are a couple of my favorite airports and I have plans for them too. Your Portland to Seattle plan only has one waypoint - KSEA or Seattle. I set up a plan in my FSX flight planner a flight plan from Portland to Seattle and I have several waypoints in-between (you can get a plan directly from Portland to Seattle if you select 'Direct GPS' but you should select either low or high altitude for an IFR flight). Try making a new flight plan from Portland to Seattle then generate the flight plan by hitting the 'Find Route' button. Make sure you select a low altitude or high altitude routing. You can modify the flight level after hitting the 'Find Route' button.

 

If you copied the information you had in each flight plan and pasted it exactly as it appeared in your document to your response above, then your plan is definitely corrupted as the XML spacing is way off.

 

See if making a new plan works.
