May 22, 201214 yr Hi guys great to see this as a forum now, knowledge is power! LOL I have a issue with MCE it doesn't seem to open when in full screen mode it's fine in windowed mode, it tries to open in FSM then when I minimize fsx screen it's open behind it, not sure what's happening there? Any ideas? Cheers Wayne http://fs2crew.com/banners/Banner_FS2Crew_MJC_Supporter.png Wayne HART

Any ideas? Cheers Wayne Hello Wayne. The MCE user interface isn’t meant to display when the simulator is in full screen mode. It would eventually show-up briefly when you say “display control panel” but won’t stay for long. FSX (or FS9) can only display windows created within its process. When the project started back in 2003, we had to make a decision whether MCE should run entirely inside the simulator or split it up. Glad we took the right decision then. FsInsider.dll runs inside the FSX (or FS9) process allowing us to gain insight and do things via the FSX SDK, without even the need to use the slow Simconnect interface (except when required). FsInsider.dll will only grab less than 10 MB from the limited virtual address space available. Depending on the currently loaded aircraft another dll (which will require less than 5 MB) will be loaded If we ran MCE in a gauge (which is what you’d need to do for the panel to appear in full screen mode), that would result in about 300 to 400 MB less virtual memory space available to other add-ons (aircraft or scenery which don’t have the luxury to choose where they run). The speech engine is a bit temperamental, and after you have spoken a few hundred commands, a lot of things can go wrong. With the current design, should anything wrong happen to MCE (or the speech engine that runs inside it) it will eventually die. But it should hardly if ever compromise the integrity of your flight, which is the most important thing. We don’t expect users to stare at the user interface. It’s only needed once in a while to set-up your preferences. If it weren’t for the fact the window is required to receive messages from fsInsider and the speech engine, we would shut it down completely when the simulator is running. Set-up your preferences, then minimise and forget about it. The bulk of the software is in the hidden part. Gerald R https://www.multicrewxp.com
