Why???

Why are there people out there spreading rumors that FS9 or 10 will be the last version Microsoft will produce of Flight Simulator??? Some people just love killing the joy in our hobby... I wouldn't want the thought let alone speak of such a great hobby and learning experience coming to an end. With all the negative crap going on in the world, FS brings me the most joy and takes me away for awhile from the day to day grind. Flight Simulator makes me imagine what my life would most likely be like if I were a little more well off. I'd be at somebody's airport hanging out with people much like what I

How about just ignoring them? The same crap happens every two years.

This forum in particular has a LOT of noise in it...some of it is amusing, most isn't. And being as popular as it is, it attracts individuals with a broad range of maturiy levels. Why would certain people wish to tear good things down? Because they're motards...

I try to ignore them but there's always that nagging "what-if" feeling. I'm not too worried though. Even if they do cancel it, there are other sims ready to take over all the "immigrants" and just waiting for talented addon developers ;)

Hi, Easy, trust official news information like avsim, simflight and flightsim.com and add this one, this french web site http://www.francesim.com/ http://www.francesim.com/forum/ is comparable to avsim (even links to avsim on the front page), simflights.com flightsim.com level.BestEric

You guys have to realize the big picture and understand that the more popular the simulator gets, the more diverse postings you're going to have. It's also important to understand that when someone posts a thread in what we think is good english, may be from someone whom English isn't their native language, therefore we assume they are saying what they mean when they may not be. After 34 years I still can't seem to convey my thoughts properly in writing, let alone try to convey any sarcasm or "kidding" type remarks, and I am "American by birth" LOL. There are simply to may people from different locations in our community. English is probably one of the hardest languages to speak/write as words can mean so many different things depending on how their spoken. But back to the point...You're always going to have individuals who just have to spread their "badness" to everyone, that's life, welcome to it. :-) Your just going to have to learn to draw your own conclusions and learn to trust the right people I guess.I think in the big picture, we're actually still pretty lucky to have more good people than bad. :-)

Aside from the other great responses here, sometimes there are more sinister motives for the "MSFS is history" posts. Microsoft is a publicly traded company, and MSFS has been a profitable sim--consistently in the top ten software titles when it is released--not entertainment mind you, but software including O/S's, Productivity, etc....Sometimes these "leaks" of inside info are simply attempts at manipulating stock prices--it's an angle not many of us think about because who would? I can't recall if it was last year, or the year before, but this exact type of incident happened when some kid put strategic posts on the Internet about some stock in order to drive the price upward, then sold for a handsome profit--and got caught. You also have to take into account the "friend of a friend" post....any employee of Microsoft leaking inside info that could influence the stock--would be in deep trouble. I used to work for a large public hotel chain as a Controller--it was the last job I held before I switched to I.T. We had to be willing to submit to polygraph tests whenever company secrets were leaked. And that is more and more common in large public firms.99 pct. of the time though, such MSFS doomsday posts are simply people seeking the limelight--trying to look like they are "in the know".... Sooner or later, Microsoft may indeed retire the MSFS line and someone will come out of the woodwork saying "I told you so". Truth is, it will only be a lucky guess.....And, if past history is any guide, Microsoft will start putting out feelers in the next few months for input on the next release. I do believe that we may see CFS go by the wayside--too much quality competition in that genre. But for MSFS it will only mean a better product since those resources will go into a better MSFS.... -John
