June 1, 201214 yr I have recently been following tutorial 1 for the general routes I fly for my VA on the US West Coast and have found it to become very useful, so much intact that I believe I will be able to fly the aircraft without any instruction. Now, because the 1st Tutorial doesn't include taxing to the runway before takeoff you will have to do that your self (taxi just before the autopilot section). Is anyone else using this training technique or have used it in the past? Oliver Cooksey Owner of the PMDG 737, 747 and Majestic Q400.

If I train you how to use a hammer to make a bird house, could you not just transfer the same technique to using a hammer to build a person's house? That's exactly what we're doing here. Tutorials are meant to show you how to do things globally, but they provide an example setting in which to learn. Nobody is going to make a tutorial flight for every route pairing in the world. Tutorial 2 includes mention of taxi procedures, but if you can't figure out taxiing there are larger issues at hand (or at tiller, as it were). Kyle Rodgers
June 1, 201214 yr I normally use that procedure as well, but I didnt with the NGX, as I already knew how to fly a Boeing. Besides, there are a few issues with tutorial 1 in my opinion, for example the lack of taxiing, and the fact that tutorial 1 uses autoland for landing. I have 100s of hours with the NGX, but I have never done an autoland. Personally I like to fly the plane when I'm flying, not letting the automatics take over my job Johan Pettersen
