June 5, 201213 yr Hello All, I was going through the QRH this morning, and several of the non-normal procedures mention "Deferred Items" for a checklist. For example, on the One Engine Inoperative Landing procedure, step 5 lists "Checklist complete except deferred items." Then it goes on to show the deferred items. My questions: what exactly are the deferred items? Are they deferred to a later time? If so, when? Are they removed from the checklist altogether? That wouldn't seem to make sense since items like "Autobrake" and "Approach Briefing" are on there...definitely necessary items. Any help is much appreciated! Adam Hill

You complete the normal checklist but substitute the items on that checklist with the items on the non-normal checklist. Complete the checklists when you need to. Kenny Lee"Keep climbing"
June 5, 201213 yr In a normal flight, you're going to use the normal checklist. Once you're in the NNC, you don't leave it unless you are told to do so. The one engine inop. checklist keeps you in the NNC until landing. As a result, you're going to miss the normal descent and approach checklists, so the NNC has it's own checklist items that are deferred until the time that you would do the normal stuff. The deferred stuff just means, "Wait, do this when it's appropriate." Matt Cee
