June 8, 201213 yr I may have have asked this before but can't remember. I am a fan of Posky aircraft ,particularly some of there older models (there A340s for instance) there NG series 737s and 330s ,all these aircraft perform well fly smoothly with minimum stutters or performance issues. The problem I have is with there latest version four 747s these are definitely performance hoggy on my PC (Even with textures converted to dxt3). My question does the fact that these 747s have an awful lot of texture files and also all sorts of effects ie pushback vehicles ,all sorts of cargo loading addons (you know what I am talking about) affect performance (frames) or is it something to do with (I show my ignorance here) polygons and such like in there paints? I also use the Melijet 747s and these are much easier on performance (in fact I wish there still people willing to do paints for these), but are equally as good looking as the Poskies.(same for there 777s), but there are many more paints for these. Anyways that is my question. Posky 747 V4 Performance. My PC is old (P4 2.8 ,2gb Ram, Gforce 6600 gt card) but very good for FS9 most of the time(with a few exceptions ie posky 747 v4).,and I have no plans to change unless or until Msoft or somebody produces a new Flight Simulator that is a simulator (not game) that gets rave reviews but requires up to-date hardware.. Cheers Andy

Sunday is Father's Day . . .have the kids go to the iFly and/or PMDG site and get you something there, instead of that new tie or expensive cigar. If ANYONE on this site deserves the iFly 737 it's you! :Star: I'll bet your system handles it just fine . . . Happy Fathers Day, "Horatio"! Smooth Skies! -- Chuck B. If ANYONE on this site deserves the iFly 737 it's you! :Star: I'll bet your system handles it just fine . . . Happy Fathers Day, "Horatio"! Chuck Very fine sentiments ,for which I thank you. I do have to confess though ,a Father I am not ,I am afraid I missed out on all that.( I have always been a rather square bloke in a round world) and tread a solitary path(lonely are the brave ,although I aint brave). However I digress , I have often wondered about payware aircraft and performance issues ,I really cant stand flying slideshow aircraft and have always assumed PMDG etc would do badly on my old PC. The other problem I have is an advanced case of manual-phobia ,Alain Capts MD11 and Paul Scarrett's PSPanel (For 737NGs) are about as complex as it gets for me.I don't really know how I worked those out (but like them both) pity somebody clever here never added to the PSPanel (it is freeware so I assume that would be ok) its got a sort of unfinished feel to it but is definitely in a class of its own for freeware panels. Anyway thanks again Chuck and if your a Dad then have great Fathers day and if not then have great one anyway. cheers Andy
June 8, 201213 yr Thank you, Andy! I too was never blessed with my own children, but I've had the honor of helping to raise 4 step sons over the past 20 years. Not the same, but still pretty fulfilling nonetheless. Still, I would love to get your opinion of the iFly, or the PMDG 737s though, especially loaded onto your system specs. I started more complex payware with the PMDG and have never looked back! And today, although I don't get to fly NEARLY as much as I used to, it amazes me that I took so long to climb on board, (AND how relatively less sophisticated an A/C it is compared to the newer iFly . . . just amazed). Hello Chuck One of the reasons I have not as yet tried the more complex aircraft PDMG iFLY is quite a simple one.....Believe it or not I have never had credit cards (despite the various and continuing efforts of various lenders to tempt me) ...This in my case is probably a good thing ,I would have spent a fortune by now on FS stuff. In the UK we have a chain of shops called GAME, and a few years ago they were pretty good for stocking FS software ,unfortunately now PC games play a very small part in there stores. If they had PDMG or Ifly stuff in stock I probably would have bought some these by now. I am peculiar in that I hate having to buy stuff on-line ,once I have made my mind up to buy something ,i like to go to a shop ,lay my money down ,and head home in fevered anticipation. GAME do seem to have some of these titles for purchase on-line ,but I don't like on-line and they are often 'out of stock' at present as well. GAME is struggling in light of the current world financial troubles. Anyways no worries I still enjoy my sim and have built up a good freeware airline fleet, There's a lot of good quality aircraft ,gauges ,sceneries etc and my main sim challenge even after all these years is getting the landing right. I do manage this MOST of the time these days ,but still haven't got it nailed by any means and I would imagine that landing a freeware POSKY with fairly basic panel and manually at the end of a flight is still probably as difficult as a more complex model. Cheers to you and I hope your Summer is better than the truly terrible weather we are having at present. I believe that some folks in the U.S. think that it never stops raining in the U.K. well this year they would be right ,it hasn't stopped for months now ,and flooding is becoming a real problem . PS Crashed on landing last night RCPT - VVTS So i 'll just have to keep trying :good: Andy
