FS9 program crashing near the New York area

Featured Replies

My FS9 program is crashing when in route to New York, usually when I fly from Chicago KORD to La Guardia KLGA, at around 150-175 nm west of New York (but still on Cleveland Center). What happens is that suddenly my FS9 screen turns completely black and after a couple of minutes FS9 crashes. My FS9 installation is fairly recent, a month or so -- I am using the default FS9 scenery (no scenery add-ons). At the time of the FS9 program crash, I was flying the Flight1 Cessna 421C Golden Eagle (the latest FS2004 version), my favorite FSim aircraft!Funny thing is, I remember my old FS2002 also having a similar crash problem at or around the same New York area.Is this a known problem? Does anybody know why my FS9 is crashing west of New York? I don't have that problem in other areas.

I remember that Fs2002 used to have a missing scenery file in the NYC area but it didnt cause it to crash. On my system it would just say a bgl file was missing and you could click ok and carry on.It could be one of many things I guess. One thing I would do is to have a look incase you have some funny Afcad2 files on your system. It might be one of those causing it to crash. You might have more than one afcad2 bgl file set up for an airport for example and its causing the crashes. On the forums here are lots of posts about CTD (Crash to desktop) and it might be an idea to read some of those and see if there is anything there that you can try and fix it with.Good luck
