Will I be able to fly the J41 on my system?

Featured Replies

I have an Intel E7400 running at 2.8 GHZ and I am using an EVGA GTX 460 1GB video card.

I can run the PMDG MD-11 at about 15 FPS and the PMDG 747 at about 12 FPS.

These are steady frame rates without stuttering and actually very flyable on my system.

Do you think I will be able to get similar results with the PMDG J41?

Hello, I'm not too familiar with your specs. I'm actually surprised you run the 747 that well. That thing hates my system with a passion.

On my system (i5, 560ti) the J41 runs just a touch worse than the MD-11 which runs like a dream for me and a millions miles better than the 747. For your system I'd expect around 13-14fps but this is a complete guess. The J41 is a more complex cockpit than the MD11 graphically and even though I have it running well now I've had to lower a lot of the J41 options which it is nice they UI gives those tweaks.

I7-2600K here running at 4.7. I can tell you that this is the ONLY aircraft that I can actually tell hits my frame-rates. I am still able to not drop below 15fps in some areas, ie. VFR Miami, which is the hardest for some reason on my system, more so than FlyTampa Tampa, but yes, I believe that you will have some issues.

You do have options though on this A/C to turn down the impact on your aircraft, like to view your passengers, wings and icing and such, which all of this you don't need to see because you will be 100% focusing full time on flying this thing.

She is a beautiful bird, I love it and it is my favorite, but the NGX runs easier...lol

Well, I purchased and installed it and the good news is that I am getting 11-14 fps (with no stuttering) depending on weather which places it in between the MD-11 and the 747.

The complexity makes me wonder if the the other airliners are really modeled as deeply as I thought.

What an amazing plane!

Glad you can enjoy it! It is a very nice plane and the one I'm currently practicing on. Pretend it has no autopilot; the thing is a beautify to fly.

( And woot my guesstimates were pretty close! *gives self a gold star* )

Agreed. It has to be the absolute best aircraft to fly of its size by hand. It's systems are really really nice and goes the distance in modeling.

She is my favorite and I am happy you like it too. Maybe we should get a group flight with Her going sometime?!?
