Hi all,I haven't been checking LavaSoft's site so often, thus I might be a bit late with this, or you might already happen to know that Ad-Aware 6.0 is released. The official announcement is here for your reference:http://www.lavasoftsupport.com/index.php?act=ST&f=1&t=3222You can download it here:http://lavasoft.element5.com/support/download/This version is totally free and is fully featured, even if you can get your hands on extra features in the commercial version. Note, however, that the number of features in the freeware hasn't decreased since the previous release, but the other way around. My personal opinion remains as before: this is a very good program. First impressions on the new version say that it's very much polished and freshened, plus it has improved in other ways. It has many scanning options and it can track down unwanted cookies, for instance. Reference files (the list of spyware and adware) are downloaded easily within the program. If you do not currently have a similar program installed, I STRONGLY recommend you install this one. I barely download stuff I don't know, yet I've managed to get spyware (read: Gator) on my computer on several occasions. If you respect your own privacy, you'll need such a program. While I'm at it I can hand out a URL for a free antivirus program that I use, namely AVG:http://www.grisoft.com/If I find anything of interest related to Ad-Aware, whether positive or negative, I'll post an update later on.Regards,Dave (David Vuorio)

Ok,I went and just got it. I ran SPYBOT, and it came up clean, so now I will run AD-Aware and let you know what I found.Spybot will be releasing version 1.2 This coming Weekend. Here is a pic of what Spybot found. 0 Instances. Here is a pic of what Ad-Aware Found. Spybot was ok in the interim, and served my purpose since it was not updated. But looks like I am also in the ad-aware camp again.Ad-Aware Found 33 Instances of spyware that spybot did not. Bye Bye SPYBOT, for now.I feel the major differences is the number of objects scanned. With Spybot, it scanned roughly 15,000 objects. With Ad-Aware, it scanned over 200,000 objects. That is quite a difference. It takes a while to run, (About 110 minutes for mine. 80 GB Hard Drive) but it is worth it if it rids the computer of this junk.If you don't have it, go get it, IMHO.Regards,JoeHere are Picture Galleries of My Trip out west in 2002..Gallery #1 Pima Air & Space Museum + AMARC (Boneyard) at Davis Monthan AFB, Tucson, Arizona.
