Few questions (newbie)

Featured Replies

Hi,

I'm the beginner user of this aircraft. Many of threads are closed and unable to continuing, so I decided start a new one...

1. What is the solution of problem of 'missing' "0" on first (or first and second) digit in squawk code?

I guess - when I get squawk i.e.: 0636 from ATC, then I should enter only "636", am I right? It's important for me, because I fly on VATSIM.

2. I bought this aircraft in FlightSim Store a few days ago - is it last (updated) version or should I install other patches/updates?

3. I read many post about problems related with final approaching (i.e. http://forum.avsim.n...s-with-the-210/). Are these problems still occur in the newest version of Centurion? (as I write above - I bought the plane a few days ago, but I didn't fly yet). If "yes", what should I do, to eliminate them?

Ps. I don't understand these post well, so can I request you to write step by step what should I do?

Ps2. Sorry for my poor English ;)

Best regards,

Lucas

Hi Lucas,

As you can see, the Carenado forums here get pretty quiet once a plane has been out for a while. Sorry no one has addressed your questions.

1) Enter the squawk code just as you receive it - always 4 digits. So, for example, if given enter 0636 enter 0636 and you'll see the transponder display flash and then display 636. If you enter just 636, the unit is still waiting for the 4th digit.

2) Carenado state that resellers are always updated with all the latest patches. I don't know how quickly that happens, but given when you bought your plane and the fact that there are no recent patches, you should have the latest.

3) While I don't think the FDE on this one is perfect, I find it quite acceptable. In particular, I found pitch trim to be a bit too coarse, so I changed the pitch trim (trim only, not elevator) parameter per some of the forum discussions. Note that the biggest complaint in the thread you pointed to came from someone who turned out to have a user created config file in place, not the original.

Hope this helps,

Scott

Thank you for reply, Scott :)

I don't understand answer 3 well. I suppose that I should make a little modification in cfg file.. am I right?

You should fly the plane a while first and then decide, but quite a few people have made changes to elevator and elevator trim effectiveness to reduce the sensitivity of one, the other or both. In my case, I found the plane difficult to trim precisely - I'd over and undershoot with the smallest adjustments.

Yes, it's the aircraft.cfg file you'd modify. Of course, make a backup before doing any modification and make changes at your own risk. What I did was to change the parameter "elevator_trim_effectiveness" from the default value of 1.4 to 1.0 .
