select aircraft menu

Featured Replies

Help please,

My Select Aircraft menu has the aircraft pictures out of sync with the description under the respective pictures.

I have a number of downloaded aircraft and somewhere along the menu has become disrupted.

How do I get it sorted out?

This is caused by missing thumbnails. Check the aircraft that is missing the thumbnail, and see if you can add one in.

That does not seem to be the problem Clem. The thumbnails appear in the select menu but after the first row they are different to the description under the thumbnail.

When such a one is chosen, the aircraft fitting the description comes up ( which is different from the thumbnail that shows in the menu)

I assume there must be a file somewhere??? that has become corrupted and may be possible to edit. But I cannot find such a file.

What I believe has happened is that one specific paint of one aircraft is missing. Usually, FSX would place a default thumbnail, the one with the question mark, with this paint. However, what it has done instead is move all the thumbnails, skipping the one that is missing. Sorry for being confusing. Find the first paint which has the fault, and go to that texture folder. See if you can find that thumbnail. Thumbnails can also be found in the aircraft's folder, with indication to that thumbnail listed in the aircraft.cfg

Clem,

Yes thanks the missing thumbnails was the problem.

Autothum does not seem to work for me any more (windows 7)

so I selected the respective aircraft as you suggested and took a screenshot, then cropped the jpeg

using Picassa and then copied the jpeg to the aircraft texture folder and renamed the jpeg to "thumbnail"

So now it is all sorted.

I appreciate your help. And now having happier flying

There was an update to autothumbnail so it would work with Win7. I tried it. It's a great little program. It's in the library as a version 2 for Win7.
