Sky reflection To An Extreme?

Featured Replies

P3D with reflection and clarity slider to the left. Ihave used bot h Rex2/OD and Rex Essentials. Also use ORBX.

I get sky reflections that show waves even on the smallest ponds. Same intensity as the open ocean. I have turned off ORBX, Backed up to FSX original in REX2, turned off all non-essential scenery in the Manager and I can't stop reflections producing this effect. In this picture I am using the fixed weather option Fogged In which should have no sky reflection.

Lockheed denies they cause this. REX says they do not do this. Just a simple diagnosis loks like the Prepare3D slider that selects what you are to see in reflections (sky, terrain, etc) is "stuck". Any ideas how to eliminate this?

What am I supposed to look at in that screenshot? Looks like a snowy landscape in fog.

I have never seen anything like that in P3D. Looks like textures, weather textures and or weather engine?

Perhaps its "Some other things?" :)

If you have used REX2 + OD within P3D you should be aware that the REX water textures are not compatible, hence the wait for Essentials. Try restoring the defaults from the backup that REX made when you installed it, then uninstall. Then maybe Essentials will function properly if you install that.

If no joy there then perhaps you should try the REX support forum.

Arnie....if it ain't broke, don't fix it...

Thanks - I did the backup/restore of original stuff but will give it another try and uninstall Rex3/OD.

The picture is meant to illustrate how odd "reflections" remain even in a heavy fog. So far I have found no way to get rid of the effect - sliders, sun angle, etc.

Rex2 Overdrive Uninstall.exe missing so deleted it and cleaned the registry. Restarted to get clean registry in memory. Now I am back to normal reflections. Indeed the "old REX" was the issue all along- Thanks :Peace: . Continue to have artificial waves on small ponds which is not very realistic but apparently P3D uses a common texture for all water and thus this oddity will continue.
