  1. Three comments: 1/ It is very impressive. A2A ruined other add-on developers for me. I expect this level of simulation from all aircraft now :-) 2/ It is very heavy on my framerates. Heavier than the Piper fx. 3/ The Heading Indicator knob is broken? Confirm? It turns the entire kompas disc and not just the heading bug.
  2. I second that - I would really like some missions to fly in P3D.
  3. Hi Bruce I had the same thing: as soon as it rains with ASN, FPS drop dramatically. Like you I'm not sure whether it is specific to ASN or a general P3D problem.
  4. That is bad news indeed :-( Do you have any recommendations as to which setting are the worst on AMD CPU's?
  5. Heh, yeah, my other gaming system is an Intel CPU with a GTX680 and I guess I'm leaning towards what you're saying. Still I like the idea of there being someone challenging Intel and Nvidia in the market :-) DCS-sims also run very badly on AMD systems. Eaglesoft says its because DCS is a DX9 product and that AMD have dropped support for DX9 in their new drivers. Hard to tell what is up and down in that discussion. But what is certain is that more than 25% of gaming machines on Steam are AMD/ATI rigs. http://store.steampowered.com/hwsurvey?platform=pc Still, any ideas would be most appreciated.
  6. Hi guys I really love P3D and especially the new update, but I'm once again facing problems with FPS. Seems its a neverending story in flightsims :-( I have an all AMD system, FX 9370 EightCore CPU, with a 290X Graphics Card, 8 GB RAM, Win 8.1, running the 14.3 catalyst drivers. I'm looking at single digit FPS over Norcal with Rob A's settings. Even dialing down stuff (view distance, autogen etc) doesn't seem to help much. Any ideas what the problem could be? And a few pics to illustrate: One more from the settings screen:
  7. What a sensationalistic headline... I thought you were talking about some clever trick, but instead you're merely stating what everyone already knows: more computing power, higher framerates.
  8. First time I hear about AI traffic add-ons for X-plane... Where can one find those?
  9. Landing in Aerodrome de Saint Francois (TFFC), Guadeloupe, on Feb 14, 2014. Airplane is an old (as old as me, anyway) Beechcraft Sundowner C23. Being a fligthsim geek, I tried to keep focus on the instruments as well as the exterior :-)
  10. Sounds like there might be reason to be optimistic.
  11. Yes I have exactly the same problem with KORS. I wonder if someone have found a work around or what is causing the flickering runway
  12. So has anyone had time to peek inside the Sim Director tool? Personally I hope it will kindle a more, shall we say, fertile mission maker community. I always felt missions was an area with much unexploited potential in FSX. I also see it as a way to combat the sneaking boredom one sometimes feel with civilian sims because one have to be so damn creative to make it fun, if you know what I mean. Sometimes it is just easier to jump into a mission someone else have made.
  13. Good post, was looking for that info
  14. Well, **** me, that's what I was waiting for... Finally someone is putting all that X-Plane goodness to proper use. When can I buy it?
  15. Well, I had a look too and thought it looked forbidding... maybe I should revisit it :-)
  16. I tested it yesterday. Amazing work! It is tough on my system (14-15 FPS) but darn it looks good.
  17. Hi Ron Like Uwe said above me here, lots of stuff. The most important however, as I came from P3D and FSX, is the fluid feeling I get from flying the plane. The effect of crosswinds for example is very satisfying. Another major thing is the eye candy. Cockpits just look way better in Xplane than FSX/P3D and that is simply because the rendering technology is more modern (HDR etc). Hey jcomm I did as you suggested and I must agree that the implementation of auto-gen and orthos in the Helsinki area that Truscenery have made is quite extra-ordinary as are their airports. Thanks. Btw, I posted a gameplay video of X-plane here where I talk a little about the sim etc. It is targeted at gamers who do not know flightsimulators. Beware however that the voice-over is in Danish. Sorry about that :-) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H6bgwZ4P_04
  18. I got those and the answer is: absolutely not.
  19. I've been wanting to write this post for a while now and here goes: I really just want one thing from X-plane at this time: one area of the world, it doesn't have to be huge, with the same level of detail as an Orbx region. I want landmarks, airports, seasonal changes, the whole she-bang. I want to be able to immerse myself in a corner of the world that looks real. I don't care if it is Egypt, Australia or PNW, it just has to be real. To feel reel... X-plane is my favorite sim. It does so many things right and there is a lot of nice payware planes, but we need that one piece of scenery to rock the X-world. PS. Alpilotx's New Zealand scenery is very nice, but it lacks landmarks and airports. Developers: consider yourself encouraged :-)
  20. Well for what it is worth, I'm like Pirata. I jump directly into the x-plane forums, never saw the survey until now.
  21. How does the realism of this helicopter compare to DCS choppers? Is X-plane 'up there' in terms of systems modelling and flight model?
