Don't want Flight on my C:\, any options?

Featured Replies

It seems the initial install took it upon itself to install on my C:\. I didn't think much of it until I say the specs for Alaska and looked at my available hard drive space. I'd like to put Flight on my 'Flightsim' drive which has way more space. I know I'll have to uninstall it and move it but is that even possible?

Download Flight again, and this time install it on another drive. Then uninstall the one on your C:\. Or you can get steam and download the steam version and then uninstall your C:\ version.

Only the installer that you can download from the Flight-site has an option to select the folder where you want to install before installing. Other installers simply look at the default GFWL-locations and put everything there.

See what happens when you start up GFWL and change the default folder locations to where you want them. It could well be that the program will reinstall everything automatically. If not, uninstall Flight and then reinstall it making sure the default locations are where you want them to be.

Beware though: afaik Flight uses the DLC directly. So when you install Flight itself on D: but let the DLC stay on C:, Alaska will be downloaded to C: and used from that location. So also make sure you change the DLC folder to the drive you want to.

All in all there are various options, so it's more or less a matter of trying what works for you. As long as you login to GFWL with the login you used to buy DLC, you will never ever lose something. You might lose your progress though when you uninstall because not everything is saved 'in the cloud'...

Somehow installing and moving Flight isn't as easy as it should be, I think... Imho everything (progress, rewards, whatever) should have been saved online somewhere so a simple login to GFWL on any computer would give you everything you bought and load your progress right away.
