Airport Information

Featured Replies

Hi,

Is it possible for MCE to provide airport information i.e. Runway ILS frequencies or the Tower frequency of any given airport by ID?

I can certainly get this from other sources but would be nice if this type of info is possible.

Affirmative, it’s possible to request all sorts of information

For example at KJFK, ask co-pilot “what is the ILS frequency for runway 04 left”

On ground he would know what airport you’re referring to, so should give you the frequency straight away.

When airborne, he will normally ask you to confirm what airport you’re talking about, something like “confirm airport ICAO ID”.

You then confirm “Kilo Juliet Foxtrot Kilo”, and he will fetch it for you. He will even offer to dial it for you.

You can also ask

“What’s the latest weather”

“What’s the latest wind” (handy on final approach)

“What is our position”

“What is the length for runway 22R”

“What’s the outside temperature”

“Confirm the call sign”

… and a few others (Read documentation)

If you switch to a TTS voice (pre-recorded voices cannot cope with unexpected text), you can even ask “what are the available ATC options?” and FO will read them aloud at any time, be it with RC4 ATC or native ATC.
