AS2012 settings for VFR

Featured Replies

Guys, I need your recommendations with AS2012 settings. I've flown mainly VFR recently at PilotEdge (talk about enjoying ATC in VFR/IFR) in ZLA between KSNA and KONT. Even though the distance is rather short (about 30 miles) the weather conditions may be very different: usually rather cloudy at KSNA but clear above KONT. AS2012 with my current settings does not depict this phenomenon correctly. If it's cloudy or overcast at KSNA it is always the same above KONT. I understand I need to change my settings in AS2012. So, currently I have DWC selected, Create Additional Stations ticked, Dynamic Rate of Change at 0%. Suppression Options are inactive since DWC is selected. Any ideas what I should try to change in the Options?

Thanks,

Dirk.

I would up the rate of change to about 10 or 15 % and what are your settings for wx downloads? I keep mine at every 10 minutes but I fly alot of heavies.

My cloud layers are at 8.

No enhanced and no additional.

Daveo,

Eventually I converged on the similar settings, including 10 min updates. I experimented with the number of the cloud layers, but they are not really needed/good for VFR flying anyway. I concur, no enhanced and no additional. Works just fine.

Thanks!

Dirk.

PS: Btw, what's your Local Range Suppresion and Suppression Ceiling?
