GA Traffic Question

Featured Replies

I use Marcus Brunner's utility for generating AI traffic.I've used the Make AI to convert a number of re-paints of the same aircraft to AI. I then consolidate into a single AI folder for that aircraft. For example, an AI folder here: fs2004 --> aircraft --> AI_Archer.Inside that archer folder are twenty re-paints, all individually converted using Make AI. I then edited the cfg to add twenty instances of the archer, fltsim.0 through fltsim.19.The objective of this is variety. When I arrive at the airport, my desire is to see different types, models and paints. What I'm getting is several different flights with the same aircraft. In this case only one of the Archers is being used.Yesterday, I flew into Duluth, MN and found each parking spot filled with the Landmark Cessna Caravan. Inside my Caravan folder are eight different paints. And that was the only GA type/model/paint to be found at that airport. Why isn't the 172, 182, 182RG, Archer, Cherokee, Cardinal and all the other aircraft I have set up for GA not showing up. I go to another airport and nothing but Cardinals. Just one type of aircraft.I've tried adjusting the AI percentage from both within and without GA Traffic to no avail. I've also tried adjusting the frequency (percentage) of occurrence from inside GA Traffic.Any ideas on how to get variety without hand editing the flight plan generated by GA-Traffic?BobL

A picture's worth a thousand words...And there are six more of this same airplane/paint behind the camera..BobL

Bump

Hi BobL,'MakeAI' converts the whole aircraft with all liveries in one go. So maybe your handwork cause the problem? Also you shouldn't change the 'aircraft.cfg' files by hand, this will give problems. 'GA-Traffic' read the files once and save them. After they are read 'GA-Traffic' only look if they are still there, but didn't read your changes. So maybe remove the 'Aircraft*.dat' files and let 'GA-Traffic' read your changes?Normaly 'GA-Traffic' use all selected planes and all selected liveries. Pleas check if the liveries are checked? Also you could open the 'Aircraft-GA.TXT' file and look if the liveries are there. They must have different NAMES. Please check this.No one before report a similar problem. So if nothing work I suggest deinstall 'GA-Traffic' remove all files from the 'GA-Traffic' folder after that and reinstall.

I remember an FS2002 AI problem with an aircraft that wouldn't show up. It turned out that the title= in the aircraft.cfg file had several spaces at the end. Of course, you can't see the spaces in the aircraft.cfg file since it doesn't use quotes "" around the title. When I manually typed the title into the aircraft.txt file, it didn't include the spaces. I don't remember why I decided to hit the end key on the title in the aircraft.cfg file, which showed the spaces, but the lightbulb when on over my head when I saw the spaces. Moral - its better to cut n' paste!W. Sieffert

It seems to me that you have done something wrong with your hand-editing. Go into the aircraft folder and delete everything the starts with GA- . This should then leave you only with "normal" a/c folders. Start up the GA-Traffic programme and convert each a/c type that you want to use as AI by using the Make AI feature. You only need to do this for each a/c type that the programme finds -- not each paintjob of that a/c type. Barry
