I'll be adjusting Benny's night textures, but even in their current mode, they're pretty good. The Carenado/Dan reflections at night are amazing.

Nice! When can we try them out?

I just used his current version of osm2xp. If you mean the improved night textures, give me a week to fit it in. Check our blog. I did post some revised textures yesterday at the blog, useable for his V1 tool and the files available at his site. It has huge scenery files for most of the northern hemisphere.

Hi Simmo

Are the roads supposed to look like this at night? It's sort of a giant glowing river and down below it gets even worse.

I remember seeing the roads in the demo around KSEA with the default x-plane terrain and they looked much better. Maybe something in-between?

PS the picture is from Corsica with lebelge's terrain.

Hi Valar - yes, you've noticed the orthophoto. I had Realscenery Oahu installed, that featured better road lighting textures, but now xp default lighting is much better.

Here's a pic I took last night.

Simmo, I agree that the buildings are too bright at night. I asked Benny over the .org about autogen buildings to populate the bald spots, not sure if that's possible.

Here is the conclusion of a trip from Copenhagen Airport, over the central city, north to Elsinore and back south to the airport :-)

Pretty much every single building in central Copenhagen is there!

Yes, it's pretty amazing when it's dense. I'm working on a properly done night texture update, looking good so far, but it's time consuming, about an hour for each LIT texture. But it'll be a big improvement, I think..

Ben's working on one exciting idea, but in the end, the key to all this is to have the OSM mapping data in the first place, or else it's too empty. Then again, I've emailed Ben Supnik personally to ask how on earth we replace all the autogen houses. If that can be clarified (It's not straight forward as it's not just changing a single .obj), things may improve rapidly, with more varied autogen. I'm real excited for the future!

I downloaded the zip file from what I gather was the first thread for the enhancing oahu topic posted by Benny. It was date back to Feb 4th 2012. I am going to load that tonight to see what it is all about. However I was wondering where the .osm that is resulting in all these fantastic screenshots exist since it does not apprear to be in the OSM.org data. I also assume (having not yet flown with the Feb 4th 2012 file data leaded) that the Feb 4th data I have is old. Maybe I am wrong as I have just started messing with photosceneryx an osm2xp and very much a novice.
