July 10, 201213 yr July 2012 - 08:18 PM Will this new rig run FSX well? Thanks! For the most part, it looks good 1) consder getting the EVGA GTX 670 FTW video card instead.(for like $399 with rebate). http://www.newegg.co...N82E16814130802 2) You have not mentioned memory, consider getting the 8 Gig GSKILL Trident 2400 (For like $99) http://www.newegg.co...N82E16820231587 3) CPU Cooler What CPU cooler do you plan to get? you need to budget for that. I have the evo 212 for like $40 but I wished I could have gotten something better. Its pretty good except it doesn't give you sufficient cooling at the highest oc possible. Since the cooler aluminium fins are not as big as those monstor coolers (if you want something that would fit your mid size case, then this maybe a better way to go). To OC to 4.5 Ghz you maybe ok with this. If you thinking of going beyond this like 4.7 or something, this won't do. http://www.newegg.co...N82E16835103099 Manny With a single monitor setup, and applying Word Not Allowed's tweeks here in this forum, you should expect 30FPS locked for the most part. Only the PMDG 737 NG and extremly complex airports with lots of AI aircrafts it could drop to 20 or something. I have something very similar... and it was awesome..until I added three x 24" monitors ..then the fps dropped to 15. :( so now I have to compromize somewhere else to get back my 30FPS. When I am flying over photosceneries at altitiude I do get back my 30FPS even with 3 X1920X1200 setup. Not decided where to compromize... I am hoping nvidia would put out an amazing driver. Ha Ha! :) Manny Beta tester for SIMStarter
July 11, 201213 yr I'll second Manny's assertions, $329 for a GTX 570 is awfully high, you're much better off with a GTX 670 for only $70 more. Pick up some fast RAM too, Ivy Bridge loves RAM at 2GHz+.

July 13, 201213 yr Whats a GOOD cooler you would recommend? Thanks! Since you are not hardcore OCer, I sugest the Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO CPU Cooler (RR-212E-20PK-R2). Its only $35 http://www.amazon.co...eywords=evo 212 The ASUS P8Z77 MB has a switch. Just turn on the switch (TPU Switch) and it would OC for you to 4.1Ghz. Atleast do that much OC if you want to get your FSX uip and running to be reasonable. Turn on the"TPU" switch after you have installed everything and its running good for a while (a couple of days). Watch the video here (at 8:40 min) showing you where the TPU switch is http://www.newegg.co...N82E16813131820 Manny Beta tester for SIMStarter
