No elevator trim, can I fix it somehow?

Featured Replies

I downloaded an FS2004 Vimy that had been converted to FSX, but there's no elevator trim.

I contacted the developer and he tells me he doesn't know how to fix it.

In fact I seem to remember the standard FS2004 Vimy had no elev trim either.

Would it be possible for me to have a shot at inserting a few lines into the FSX Aircraft file or wherever to try to create elevator trim myself?

Alternatively, would copying and pasting another aircrafts elev trim work?

Try these settings, in the aircraft.cfg:-

[flight_tuning]

elevator_trim_effectiveness =3.00000

[airplane_geometry]

elevator_trim_limit =10.00000

These are from the A2A Cub, but the Beech 58 uses 1.0 and 15.00, and the BN-2 Islander uses 1.0 and 18.5, so anywhere in that area is good. I'm not saying this will work, as it may be dependent upon some entry in the .air file. I've personally never had the issue before - but there's no harm in trying. If you feel that you might 'mess something up' - just copy / paste the cfg in the same folder so you have a backup - OK? :smile:
