  1. I haven't defragged my C: drive for about a year because it takes too long, i think it was about 7 hours (?) last time. Is that normal or can we speed it up somehow?
  2. Thanks, and there's also a good WW2 aircraft gallery at The Few Good Men here, including categories for tanks and infantry etc- http://www.thefewgoodmen.com/thefgmforum/forums/world-war-two-images.11/ Example-Captured Jagdpanther (click to enlarge)
  3. If any of you guys do WW2 aircraft, check out this site- http://www.mission4t...=viewforum&f=92 as most of the photos are computer-enhanced and enlarged to show detail down to the individual rivet and panel-line level.. example: Dauntless (click to enlarge)-
  4. "Apart from this, how did you enjoy your flight Mr. Farage?"
  5. Most crashes are due to pilot error, so in an airliner I'd be forever worrying whether the pilots were doing their job properly..
  6. Good riddance to rep systems anyway; i've seen other forums fall apart through bad feeling and bickering caused by members hitting each other with red negative rep pts as if they're immature schoolyard brats..
  7. As a gamer/simmer, I see quite a few complaints about Steam around the net; many people just don't seem to like it for various reasons such as registration problems and stuff. And you can't give a Steam game away to pals because it'll only work on your computer via your personal Steam account, not on theirs.
  8. Flight attendant Karen Black in 'Airport' was out of comms but could still fly a 747 through the mountains.. George Kennedy- "She's flying it herself!" Charlton Heston- "Climb baby, climb!"
  9. For real dabbling in space, the ORBITER sim is first-rate and totally free, they must be crazy to give it away, ha ha.. PS- for a challenge I've been trying for ages in Orbiter to get the Shuttle into orbit without looking at the instruments and haven't managed it yet, it's almost impossible to fly spacecraft by the seat of your pants and eyeballs only! http://orbit.medphys.ucl.ac.uk/
  10. I've only flown 3 times (Taylorcraft Auster, Cessna 172 and a Swallow glider) and was a passenger each time. Can't say I enjoyed it because I was on the verge of being airsick the whole time! I've never flown in an airliner but wouldn't like to for the same reason, and i'd also feel uncomfortable and claustrophobic. As far as I'm concerned it's perfectly normal not to like flying, I mean anybody who likes sitting in an airtight tin box 6 miles high at 500mph surely can't be normal?.. PS- I also hate car travel,(I've never had or wanted a car) and have to make excuses not to go when my niece offers to take me out in hers. Coaches and trains I also dislike, I feel sick the whole journey and it lasts for a couple of days afterwards, boy am i weird..

Thanks i've looked some up on youtube and they're a bit slow for me, and are mostly about doods lamenting their lost woman.. I like stuff with a lot of swing, dunno what category this Barrett number falls into (R&B or rock maybe?) but it blows my socks off-
  12. The Realair website is- http://www.realairsi...e.php?page=home And their Support address is- [email protected] So it might be worthwhile dropping them a line, they've got your money..
  13. Is it turbo-engined? Turbos are notoriously slow to start, you might have to wait a full minute or more after hitting the ignition switch before you hear the whine and see the prop begin turning.

I know zilch about blues, can anybody recommend some all-time greatest blues classics so i can listen to them on youtube?
  15. I've never flown in an airliner, but I've heard of people being flung about and getting hurt bad in the cabin in turbulence, so if I ever fly, should I keep my seatbelt on for the whole flight?
  16. I grew up in the 1960's when parents were glad their kids stayed safe at home watching TV or reading or listening to pop records or building model kits instead of hanging about in street gangs and getting in trouble. But nowadays parents want their kids to switch off their computers and practically force them onto the streets at gunpoint, times have certainly changed..
  17. I only ever seemed to meet weirdos, for example after me and June kissed on the lips, I could see her out of the corner of my eye wiping her mouth with the back of her hand as if she'd been snogging the swamp monster from the x-files..
  18. I bought my first computer in 1983 (Sinclair Spectrum) and a flight sim to go with it (Psion Flight Sim) and have been hooked on sims and games continually for the 29 years since, and put in many hours each day on it over the years (I never married or had kids ha ha). My sister and nieces have said from time to time "you spend too much time on that computer, maybe you should get a life?" to which my reply was always- "But computing IS life, what else could i possibly want?". But I have to admit simming/gaming has lost its attraction a bit over the past couple of years, maybe i've burnt out slightly and am getting old, i dunno. However I'd never wipe my hard drive because i still dabble now and again, and I also have fun net surfing and talking in discussion forums on all sorts of subjects, for example my WW2 Aircraft photo thread at M4T has drawn over 300,000 views (I'm PoorOldSpike over there)- http://www.mission4today.com/index.php?name=ForumsPro&file=viewforum&f=92 I'll probably be found like this in a few years, it's not a bad way to go..-
  19. The SETI (Search for Extra-Terrestrial Intelligence) program has been scanning the heavens for radio messages indicating alien life, but what if aliens have already been to earth? For example one guy appeared on earth and said- "I am not of this world" (John 8:23) "I know where I came from and where I am going. But you have no idea where I come from or where I am going" (John 8:14) "I'll tell you things hidden since the creation of the world" (Matthew 13:35) Would you listen to him Spock? "Affirmative, I'm all ears"..
  20. UFO's themselves are one thing, but the strange lifeforms they may contain are quite another..
  21. Fascinating.. Yeah, that Chappel/Spock screenshot is from the 'Amok Time' episode where Spock is feeling down because he hasn't got a girlfriend and has gone half-insane with loneliness (we guys know how he feels) and is obsessed with getting back to Vulcan to mate. In one scene (below) he's even considering knifing Kirk and taking over the Enterprise to fly to Vulcan, that's how far gone he is..
  22. Yeah Cap One's quality on YT is not so hot, but remember to set the resolution to the best possible via the cogged wheel icon at bottom right to see if you can live with it. And like everything on YT, you can click the 'fullscreen' icon at bottom right to make it fill your whole screen. At a guess I'd estimate about 60% of all movies ever made are free on YT, (and a lot of TV shows and series) but resolution quality varies from poor to excellent.
  23. Apart from the fact that I never married because I simply never wanted to be a family man, I was also chronically shy with women for many years, plus I was never a socialiser (hated pubs and bars etc) so I simply never met anybody anyway.Tried going with a hooker or two in my younger days but didn't like the lack of warmth so soon gave them up. On top of all that, i was always ultra-fussy and if I didn't like the look of a dame (eg too much makeup, hideous short hair, terrible dress sense, no brains, a smoker etc),i'd avoid them like the plague! I'm still forlornly looking though, somebody like Nurse Chappel would be fine, see how tender and caring she is towards the ailing Spock even though he don't want her, huh there's Vulcans for you..
  24. Klingons know how to deal with space junk.. STAR TREK 5 'THE FINAL FRONTIER' script excerpt- VIXIS- Captain Klaa, we have a target in sight. A probe of ancient origin. KLAA- Difficult to hit? VIXIS- Most difficult. KLAA-Good! All weapons to my control. Scope! KLAA (after destroying it)- Shooting space garbage is no test of a warrior's mettle. I need a target that fires back !
  25. At 1 hour 48 mins Savalas in the rear cockpit yells to Gould in the front- "Keep your head down", and Gould replies "Why didn't you sit in front?", but Savalas doesn't bother saying why. Us aviation nuts know the answer don't we.. Anybody want to explain?
