  1. Paul, Thank you my old friend, I knew you could help Tony out. :im Not Worthy: lh :yahoo: :hi:
  2. Good morning flyforever, First question. Before you installed Steve's fixer did you make a copy of your stock shader's? If you did, you can copy them back into FSX and bring back your original shader's, and then re install Steve's fixer and first print out the manual and follow it. I am hope this might help? The shaders are found in your FSX root directory under "Textures". Les H :hi:

    FSX/DX10 is my new sim

Hi Richard, TEXTURE_MAX_LOAD=4096 This what my maxload is set at [bufferPools] Bufferpools=1 PoolSize=10485760 RejectThreshold=524288 // 262144 // 131072 // 262144 // 524288 // Above is the bufferpool size that I am currenytly running. Keep in mind the // signs mean that they are remmed out and the values are not read or loaded when the cfg file is loaded. I am in hopes this will help you out. Also I have tweaked my Inspector to accomedte the SLI cards. Les :hi:

    FSX/DX10 is my new sim

Good morning to all the DX10 simmers and all that have broought FSX / DX10 to the point that i is today. i now have a balanced system that runs DX10 at 28 / 29.9 FPS and this is mainly from the help of two simmer Steve Parsons for the tweaks (that works very well!!) and Paul J for giving us the information as it come to him. I have a lot to learn and with these people on board DX10 and simming is going to be a simmers delight! Ths one thing that i have learned is to have a balanced system. Take a look at my computer specs and some might and will say that I have over kill on my system. It runs well with all of my scenery packs and planes. Now with planes my PMDG FPS will drop to 25 to 26 but without any stutters and the grapics are great :yahoo: Now to fix the PMDG issues all I have to do is play with the bufferpool and tweak it to bring the FPS up. So when you put a system togeather for FSX always keep in mind BALANCE BALANCE BALANCE your system. I took the advise on what was needed to build my rig and added one other item which was the the two SLI Nvidea 580 / 3GBvideo ram on each card and very fast ram I can now run (3) 27" monitors without useing a Tripple Head 2 Go. Life is great but in my case it wouldn't have been so great with out the help that I have receoved from this forum and the great people that stay up all hours to being this sport to the point that we see it today. My :hi: is off to these fine gentlmen!! Thank you and i will always be greatfull to you all :yahoo: Les H Mavrick11
  5. Now that DX10 is now beeing fixed and new add-ons are now DX10; developers are taking notice of the huge movement toward DX10, they are now programming for DX10. This is how we as simmers find out what is good and what is not what we want. For me if the product dosn't say " DX10 COMPATABLE" I will not buy it. I personally think that this will not go away and it is here too stay. This discussion will never go away and I am as honest as I can be. I have been around flight simulators a looooooooooong time and this is the next generation in flight simming!! So to say that people will loose interest is not correct. I will now get off my soap box..... I am disappointed... Les

Hi Jim, I record in 1920x1080x32 and then set it up in my video editing software. When you record with Fraps you have to have your frame rate set at 30fps if your FSX is set at 30FPS. Now the issue comes with the software that you convert the fraps video into a timeline just like a movie. You also can add video effects and fades and to produce your video. Now you can purchase the video production software or you can use Windows video software for free and there are a few free video makers on the web. As I have found out while recording is Fraps records the screen of the monitor. If the monitor is dark then then the video is going to be dark. So get your monitor set so when you record it, it will be the qualiy that you want for the finished video. When you record a fraps video, you can view it before you import it into your video software. You then can see just what you have and decide what you want or don't want. I will say it is a time consuming effort. It isn't just record and send it to Youtube. YouTube will not accept the raw video. When I finish a video I save it as a windows video file. If you have more questions, let me know. Les

Hi Jimh, Jim, Paul J and everyone, Yes the information that I had referred to is old 2006. This is 2012, and tecnology and software has changed sense 2006. I did go to the website Jim that you mentioned and it is more impressive than the 2006. By that I mean there are users that have run up to six monitors. I havn't read anyone that had a bad result? No one on the 2006 nor the 2011 or 2012 entries has put down their systems configuration or at least I didn't see any while I was on the two sites. Below is a link to the Matrox brouchure and will explain the options that are available. If you have information that is not shown or I am missing please let me know? Click here to get Matrox brochure. Les Take a look and be the judge.

Hi everyone! :yahoo: I went on google like I was told by JimH and found this site "Toms Hardware which is the link below. Now SLI is supported and I can expect the 3840x1024x32 bit color as stated by #165 post Paul J. Also JimH has stated the same. I also found out that Fraps will also record in the wide screen effect. You will be amazed at the screen shots they have on this site. This is my happy day!!!! :yahoo: I feel like I am in my 20's again!!!! Take a look at this site on Tripple Head 2 Go!! http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/matroxs-triplehead2go-span-fun-displays,1251.html Les :hi:

Good morning from Iowa USA Jim you have been a great help on this issue and I am sure I will take the plunge and go for the TH2GO. I talked to CDW yesterday and with a tech about this setup. He told me to call back today and he would setup a comferance call with Matrox and all the questioned I had asked I could get their input. Not bad for service. I will let everyone know what I find out. It will be interesting to talk to them. I am thinging strongly about the newest version of the Digital TH2GO which isn't out as of now. Thanks again and we will stay in touch. :im Not Worthy: Les :hi:

Jim, The one thing that bothers me is I run two 580/3GB each cards in SLI. In the past when I tried to run more than one monitor the Nvidea control panel would shut off the SLI mode. This is when I had three monitors at differnt resolutins or not at the same as the native mode. This is what I run now and with one monitor. Monitor LG 27" LCD - FSX locked @ 30fps - 1920x1080x32. With one monitor I get great results, but with two or more will I get the same or will I be cut back in resolution? It is a lot of money to exsperiment with and then not get the return. i have a exceptionaly system and beeing retired I am very fortunate to have it. DX10 thanks to Avsim is running like gangbusters! Like many I allways am lookng for more. I tell the wife what I need is a full blown Boeing 747 simulator!! :LMAO: Maybe we should go on (Avsim) Teamspeak and have a discussion on this? It would be interesting. Now tonight I booted my system and went on the enternet and had a notice from Nvidea that there was a new update 306.97, so I downloaded it and will see what happens. Les

Hi Jim, It sounds like a straight forward setup. Thank you for your quick respnse to my questions and I realley appreciate it. You have done an excellent job in helping me out on this issue. The next thing is to wait for the TH2GO digital 3 to be released. I do have another question which I had forgotten to ask and that is: how much does it draw from your video cards? I mean did you see a downgrade in video speed after you went to the TH2GO verses without TH2GO? Les

Hi JimH, I have some questions on your settings and the TH2GO. 1. when you installed the software did it look for how many monitors you had hooked up? 2. I see your native resolution was 1280x1024... did the software then set another resolution of 3840x1024 and put it in FSX automatically. 3.have you ever used Fraps for recording and if so which monitor dose Fraps record from? 4. is your TH2GO a analog or digital setup? 5. have you ever had to contact the company which is based iin Canada? 6 if so what type of service ddi they have "poor or excellent" service? To me service is 95% of the product, it can be the best product on the face of the earth and if it has poor sevice it becomes the worst product on the face oof the earth. I am a tech geek and I always want the lastest and the greatest. But through the years I have started to ask questions and a lot of them before I buy. So beeings you have one I thought you could help me out. Oh yah, yesterday I went on there website and I filled out a form to be notified of the newest digital TH2GO3 which has not been released yet. When I clicked on the summit I got a message "OOPS SOMETHING WENT WRONG". do they have someone here in the states that a person can talk to if they have an issue? Thank you for your response in advance. Les

Hi ya all, Couldn't resist getting in on the multi monitor thing. Now I run two EVGA 580/3GIG each/SLI and four DVI hookups. At the time I wanted run multi monitors. I did not have DX10 running like I do now. Anyway I had hooked 3 LG 27" monitors to to the DVI connectors. Went to the video control panel and set it up for multi monitors; but at that time the SLI function was shutoff by default when I hooked the monitors up. They all come on and I was able to pull windows from the main monitor over to the two other monitors. Now for the main issue with me was that the center monitor run in HD and the other two monitors were not HD mode. They were at a different resolution. You say you have no issues with your monitors running in DX10. My question is when you drag a window onto your other monitors are they the same resolution as the main monitor in HD? One way I checked was to drag the mouse across from one one monitor to the next and watched for a cursor size change and I deffemtly seen a differnce in the size of the cursor from one monitor to the next. Can you explain what TH2GO is and how it works with multi monitors? Thanks for another sleepless nite!!!  Les

    A "How-To-go-DX10" doc

Good morning Jim, I went to bed and woke up with the shadow thing on my mind. I also was thinking more about how dark the screen looked after recording a video. Inspector has nothing to do with the shadows and how dark the screen is when recordings and shadow. So what can it be? When I woke up I still was thinking about it. I decided to open up NVIDEA control panel and check the video settings like the gama, contrast, brightness, etc. First I opened up FSX and sellected the Waco and pressed "ALT+RTN" and put FSX into a window. I then opened up the NVIDEA control panel and started to make the adjustments that I mentioned above and then looking at the FSX window. If it was what I wanted I then would press "ALT+RTN" and run FSX to check it out. With this process I got the shadows working the way they should work and while flying at nitght and on a clear or partly cloudy night I could see where I was flying. So in short I had my video monitor settings way out of wrack!!  Just to be on the safe side I reinstalled the new shader. I then loaded the default Cesnna 172 amd set the weather at clear. I then taxied the Cesnna in a circle and watched the shadows which worked perfect. I then loaded the Waco and did the same as I did with the Cesnna and the shadows worked quite differnt than the Cesnna. What I found was there was no line of shadow like the Cesnna. There was a light to dark shadow. That has to be because the Waco is a open cockpit to where the Cesnna is a cabin. So, now I am going to leave my NVIDEA control pael alone. I use Inspector totally for FSX settings and the NVIDEA control panel strictly for the monitor settings. MAN IT'S BEEN A LONG NIGHT!! Les
