Avsim could take it ;)

Barry, as Fred points out "AVSIM could take it". We didn't just spend $7,000+ for a Model T server. This sucker is scaled for exactly that kind of upload and the anticipated downloads that it would bring about. It will be an interesting test of the server to witness. We certainly have the bandwidth, so the only "ceiling" that we will hit will be that of the number of concurrent ports open (800). Everyone would due the community a big favor by limiting their concurrent download processes to two. That means that 400 people at a time could be downloading. Those who have broadband won't see much of an impact, and those on dial up don't benefit from more than one port open. Since the forums are now located on the file server (until we can get the former forum server fixed), the only other possible hiccup would be slow forums and that would only last a day or two at most.Anyway, the community mantra ought to be "Here's two ports for you, my fellow simmer!" :)

I started simming about 5 years ago -- and very quickly realised that Avsim was the best Sim site around. Not only for the way in which the site is run and organised -- but also by the obvious high intellectual capacity and good looks of the organisers and also, of course, it's members. :)Roll on this a/c -- and lets see how good this Avsim server is!! :)Woops -- assuming of course that Milton and the crew agree to said suggestion - but, I warn them , they had better give it some good thought because there is a DELUGE coming! Barry

Barry look at there site, the plan is to use the Avsim server for release :)
