September 8, 20205 yr Hi, I'm Dave. This is my first post. I'm sorry to post in such an old thread, but I'm trying to use RCV4 X with Microsoft Flight Simulator X, and I'm a bit confused. Even though it says the software is freeware, it seems that you still need a registration code to use it? Did I miss something, or is it not actually free? I tried the automated registration process, but it looks like the domain where the process was previously hosted is up for sale. Also, I've tried to contact Doug Thompson, but no replies yet. Honestly, I would like to use MSFS-2020, but I can't afford to upgrade my computer to that level for at least a few more months. Maybe I just missed something simple about activating the free version? Thanks for any help.
September 8, 20205 yr Moderator @Dr_D, hello Dave and welcome to AvSim. I’ve just checked the links in items 1 and 2 in John Dekker’s post and they are okay. Click on each to download the RC4 installer followed by the software that will register your version. https://www.avsim.com/forums/topic/547732-radar-contact-and-jdtllc-in-transition/ RC4 will only work with FSX (incl Steam) and all versions of P3D. Always run programs with admin privileges in Windows 10. Launch RC4 after installing it and a dialogue window will display a product ID. You launch the Key Generator and paste that ID into the top field. Then press the Encrypt button (from memory) and a registration code will be generated. Paste that code into the field in RC4 and that should be it. When launching RC4 it’s likely a couple of DLLs will need registering. There is a pinned topic to describe how to do that. Finally, if you’re running Windows 10 you may require a VB runtime file. I can provide that via email if necessary. Ray (Cheshire, England).
