June 6, 200422 yr I have two types of DC-10-30 in FS9 - the older FFX/SGA version (ffxsgadc10) and the updated/newer SGA (sga dc10) version. The newer version (sga dc10) flies superbly but the older FFX/SGA one is a mess and it makes me wonder if it is supposed to be flyable in FS9. The N1 is wrong, I can't reduce N1 below 68% at cruise and thus the Mach speed is not reducable either since the N1 modeling is not correct, the pitch is wrong, and so on. I know how to correct all these things, but before I go further I wanted to post and ask if this a/c is even supposed to be flyable within FS9. (Perhaps I missed a fix for Fs9 or whatever...?)Posts appreciated, thanks!JS Jonathan Sacks Dell XPS Gen 4, Pentium IV Northwood extreme 3.8Ghz, 3Ghz RAM, eVGA 7900 GTO, 12 GoFlight modules plus MCP-PRO AP and EFIS, GF pedestal, CH rudder pedals, CH throttle quadrant, 42" LG LED, 24" DELL LCD, Windows XP, FS2004, FSUIPC 3.96 FS Autostart 1.1 (Build 11), FS Navigator 4.6, UT, FE, GE, REX, PMDG, Level-D, PSS, etc.
June 6, 200422 yr If you take the AIR file and aircraft.cfg from the new one and put it with the old one it works ok. I didn't find the original one flyable in FS2004 at all, but as I prefer the original model (I don't much care for the flexing/bouncing wing on the newer one) I just use it with the new flight dynamics.
June 6, 200422 yr Author OK, thanks, Nick.JS Jonathan Sacks Dell XPS Gen 4, Pentium IV Northwood extreme 3.8Ghz, 3Ghz RAM, eVGA 7900 GTO, 12 GoFlight modules plus MCP-PRO AP and EFIS, GF pedestal, CH rudder pedals, CH throttle quadrant, 42" LG LED, 24" DELL LCD, Windows XP, FS2004, FSUIPC 3.96 FS Autostart 1.1 (Build 11), FS Navigator 4.6, UT, FE, GE, REX, PMDG, Level-D, PSS, etc.
June 7, 200422 yr Well the orginal DC-10-30 was built around FS2002 so that would explain for the crummyness in FS2004 and is why we updated it to be totally FS2004 compliant. If you are using FS2004, please use our FS2004 DC-10-30 with all updates.
June 7, 200422 yr Author Dan:I AM indeed using the FS2004 version and it is super. I'd just wondered whether I could "resurrect" the earlier models (perhaps largely as an intellectual exercise.)The Fs9 models are excellent in particular on approach and landing which is a source of relief and delight to me since these are tricky areas with a lot of a/c types and models, especially jet airliners. Thanks for posting.JS Jonathan Sacks Dell XPS Gen 4, Pentium IV Northwood extreme 3.8Ghz, 3Ghz RAM, eVGA 7900 GTO, 12 GoFlight modules plus MCP-PRO AP and EFIS, GF pedestal, CH rudder pedals, CH throttle quadrant, 42" LG LED, 24" DELL LCD, Windows XP, FS2004, FSUIPC 3.96 FS Autostart 1.1 (Build 11), FS Navigator 4.6, UT, FE, GE, REX, PMDG, Level-D, PSS, etc.
