July 27, 201213 yr Hi i was just wondering why at 39,000 am i still getting clouds which are only a couple of thousand feet below me. Regards Chris Chris You were probably above the overcast I was flying in at FL360. Yesterday I did a flight between Honolulu and Sidney and essentially was in clouds for the first 4000 miles from with step climbs from FL300 to FL360. About 800 miles from Sidney I said to myself this can’t be right and it wasn’t. I checked the satellite image on the NOAA website and it showed that area basically clear with a few cloud systems here and there. On the AS2012 Main page I clicked on the Refresh button in the lower left corner and the overcast was gone replaced by cirrus clouds. AS2012 is set to automatic downloads every ten minutes. I think the only time cloud depiction is accurate is at takeoff. At least I hope it is. I am too busy during takeoff and climb to be trying to determine if it is correct. I think it starts off okay and just goes downhill from there. Michael Cubine Michael Cubine
