July 29, 201213 yr Last Friday I did fly 60 minutes in a real 737-800 NGX static simulator at Schiphol Airport Amsterdam. From EHAM to EHRD and EHRD to EBBR. AND I DID IT ALL !!!! (Well, not from Cold & Dark. Takes too much time). Programming the FMC with the CDU is thrilling. Just reaching out to the right buttons and switches (well almost) gives you an almighty feeling. It was really a very exciting experience, I can tell you. I noticed some differences with the PMDG and something I did not know. 1. PMDG has no trim button. In real it's nice to operate that and the value is displayed on the Engine Display. 2. The flap position is here displayed too. 3. After switching of the AP and AT, there is only a short warning signal. PMDG has to be stopped by clicking the AP / AT Disengage Light. 4. I did wonder that an armed speedbrake is not in a notch or something. 5. The baro pressure is in mb (1013 or 29.92) and not STD 6. The feeling was that in the real simulator the plane was easier to fly than on FSX. Especially the landing was a piece of cake. 7. The 737-800 can fly faster than 1 mag. But don't do that! 8. If you have flown in the simulator, I guarantee you that your PMDG experience increases with more than 30%! Next time perhaps in a full flight simulator..... July 29, 201213 yr 1. PMDG has no trim button. In real it's nice to operate that and the value is displayed on the Engine Display. The trim toggle is on the yoke in the PMDG but if they haven't modeled (never tried to use it because its programmed on my joystick) its probably because you can't use the mouse on a moving yoke, and the autopilot disconnect button is there which you would normally hit twice to cancel the both the AP and its warning horn. 5. The baro pressure is in mb (1013 or 29.92) and not STD STD is standard altimeter and its listed above transition altitude when you press the STD button, I've tried that button on a real 737 while sitting on the ground and who did the simulator belong to? The differences you saw could be customer options (such as the digital flap indicator vs the usual mechanical guage) or if you sat in a non airline standard sim then the sim itself could be inaccurate. 7. The 737-800 can fly faster than 1 mag. But don't do that! Do you mean mach 1? Alex Jevdic KORD/KHOT/KPWKA<380 love at first flight
July 29, 201213 yr Author Hi Alex, 1. Correct 5. I could not recall "STD" at the moment, so perhaps it has the STD push button. I am sure that he did not use it and turned the Baro knobcto 1013, He is a KLM (Air France :-) ) pilot and the Simulator belongs to FST / Schiphol Oost Amsterdam 7. Sorry, yes mach 1 Frans Frans Dekker / IVAO SPP / AFR074
July 29, 201213 yr I'm almost certain the 737 can't do Mach 1...I would think the airplane would fall apart!

July 29, 201213 yr Ha today i was in a full flight simulator in Lelystad (40 minutes out of Amsterdam) after our spotting weekend in AMS and it was awesome! Many many many similarities to the NGX (ok i think that wsa clear) and the instructor said i made it very well (ok he has to be nice but i think i could upbload a video so that you know what i mean ;) ) IT WAS NICE... I can only recommend the simulator there: 1:30-> 2 houres of flight and 3 cards for the aviodrome, a professional instructor with a 737 type rating and a veeeery nice moving 737NG simulator with everything working, and that on a very stable FSX with many improves. and that for, yeah, i think round about 250€, thats cheap for its class (look at the offer of Lufthansa) ;) So when you want i could upload a small vid... I hope you had fun, Frans! I also noticed that it is much more easy with my joystick than with a yoke in the left and a throttle in the right hand... Lennart Siepelmeyer Proud owner of the NGX from PMDG, the best flight sim aircarft at this time (just the best fs aircraft until the next PMDG plane is rolling out) Home airport: EDDG Online fliyng on IVAO, ID : 335599 Windows 7 x64 i7-860 (4x2.8 GHz) GTX-460 2GB 4GB RAM

It's so nice to have that experience! So the full motion simulator will be next! Thanks for the tip. FST asks € 555,00 for one hour! Frans Frans Dekker / IVAO SPP / AFR074
July 29, 201213 yr 3. After switching of the AP and AT, there is only a short warning signal. PMDG has to be stopped by clicking the AP / AT Disengage Light. Well if you use the quick disco button on the yoke, by double clicking it you get the minimum 2 sec disconnect warning -Michael
