Dangerous weather?

Featured Replies

There used to be a web site 'dangerousweather.com' or something like that. It would act as a search engine, where you could search for bad weather in real time. Parameters like 'low ceilings' thunderstorm, icing etc. Then you could go to that location and fly the weather in the sim.It shut down about 7 months ago or more, and I have not been able to find anything similar. Does anyone know of such a site?

I loved that site - in the winter I used to search for someplace where it was snowing and go fly from there to somewhere it wasn't - I saw a lot of airports I never would have flown from that way! While not really a comparable site but, I've joined the weather matrix group recently (www.weathermatrix.net and associated yahoo group). The site is a little difficult to navigate, but there's a wealth of info in there, like global radar links. The group is a combination of user posts and news summaries of weather interest. You can check out the site without signing up for the yahoo group...Love to hear whatelse you find!Best,sg

You should have been over Edinburgh UK last night with Activesky -- total fog out developed as I flew north VFR. Was forced into a climbing hold over some mountains while I filed an IFR plan. Finally made it into Edinburgh with 200m visability!
