USS Enterprise from Team SDB

Featured Replies

I notice that the aircraft carrier USS Enterprise has just appeared in the Flight Sim Pilot Shop. It is apparently an upgrade of the product produced some years ago by Alphasim, which I didn't buy at the time but which I thought I might now try just for a different type of challenge. I did have an aircraft carrier addon from Abacus many years ago but it caused a few problems with other scenery areas (well it was from Abacus!) so I didn't reinstall it when I was reinstalling FS9.

I am however now thinking of giving this a try but wondered if anyone else has experience of it (or even the old Alphasim version) before I buy it?

If you are still with FS9 that version hasn't changed much. Some updates by Robert Baum that were not used by Alphasim have now been included as well as the aircaft textures have been updated. Otherwise its the same package. The price is also incorrect at this time. It was only supposed to be $24 for the FS9 version (same as the original Alphasim price). So it you are interested, wait until the folks at Pilot Shop fix the price.

The FSX version is completely new from the ground (waterline?) up. More info on that verison look here:

Thanks Frank - will wait for FSPS to take note of the incorrect price! I assume the screenshots are from FSX?

How about the nuclear static freeware "Waikato" carrier for FS9 ? It's located East of New Zealand's North Island, is quite old but in my opinion still the very best, especially in combination with Rob Barendregt's COP (Carrier Operations) cable trapping and catapult launch panel edits for any carrier based aircraft with animated tail hooks.

Waikato itself has animated blast shields, catapult steam effects, "dynamic object" navy aircraft/helicopters flying around and looks very good indeed. My own additions of some extra navy (helicopter landable) escort ships and animated wake effects completes the illusion of a moving and spectacular carrier group.

Search for "Waikato" by Severn Rewetti and be sure you have his latest version.

May your happy landings forever exceed your bolters !!
