Had the week from hell so far.

I got a second hand motherboard for my Phenom 955BE as my old mobo had a cracked sata plug.

I put the cpu into the new mobo and all fans would spin but no mouse, keyboard or monitor would turn on

I reverted to y old mobo and the problem persisted. After troubleshooting i realised my old cpu has probably died.

So i went and got (o my wife's dismay) an intel i5 3570 with 8G of ddr 3 ram and an asus P8H77 mobo.

Went home, put it together and now the fans spin once and it will not boot up!! I am thinking i got a dud mobo, any other thoughts?? The psu is a VANtEC ultra quiet i520w

Did you get that 6 or 8 pin power supply plug on the motherboard connected to the power supply if you have the extra MOBO socket? I put a system together and got the large MOBO power supply plugged, but no boot. Fans spin up and that was it. Then I found the other power supply connection back by the I/O ports and connected the power supply cable to it. All is well now.
