  1. What a great read! As a simming enthusiast, can't wait for this event, truly unique.
  2. A B733 freighter collapsed the gear after a hard landing in Indonesia. The 2 crew were unhurt. The airport has no navaids and is strictly Visual only.
  3. The title is very wrong indeed and was started by an Australian media outlet and never corrected. Let's face it, makes people want to click on the link far more than if the title said "Pilots enter wrong coordinates and have to return to land". How the pilot missed the cues is bewildering. The aircraft was supposed to turn right after takeoff but turned left, across the path of the parallel runway. This is when ATC and the crew took control and unfortunately for the crew they could not return to Sydney to land due to severe weather so they went to YMML. There was no mistake there, once at ML they performed maintenance and continued on.
  4. Correct, FSGRW is a weather generator, uses GRIB and interpolates weather to generate it around the world. RWC is an interface that collects the data generated by a weather creator program such as FSGRW, XPlane default weather, NOAA plugin etc. and uses bypasses a lot of the XPlane limitations to show you this weather. XPlane has a limit of 3 layers of cloud and 3 layers of wind. RWC aims to by pass this limitation and inject whatever weather is required. They are both different programs for different goals.
  5. This is a famous accident...a book even pagliarised this accident. https://aviation-safety.net/database/record.php?id=19930406-2
  6. No you don't get a specific email, it got advertised in the 767 support forum. I believe you will get a promotions email from their distributer stating the aircraft has been updated but that is it.

  8. Try this one...Chitral Airport, Pakistan Or Gilgit, also in Pakistan
  9. Give yourself plenty of time to do this, we did the same a while back, fly to at least one airport in every country. Soon you realise how big Mother Earth truly is! But it is a great adventure!
  10. Not sure if everyone saw this, but I believe some of the streaming will be of flying in different FSX aircraft, as well as interviews with celebrities such as the Tuskegee Airmen, real life Concorde pilots, current Airbus pilots as well as Air Force personnel.
  11. This is a wonderful initiative and should be a great event to fly in! I shall be there!
  12. That is true, apologies, I thought he only meant payware. The MisterX sceneries are a must-have.
  13. Aerosoft Manchester is very good, and I also purchased LOWL and LOWS, very nice indeed. If you are in the market for GA airports, Lufker-Spadaro is a true work of art.
  14. SIMCODERs is a company that created the very good "HeadShake" free plug in as well as a few others. They released a "Reality Expansion Pack"...it adds new sounds, systems, and a whole lot of features to the aircraft. Think of it as adding an enhanced "A2A Accusim" pack for it: http://www.simcoders.com/reality-expansion-pack/overview
  15. Aaron, I am using the Carenado Cessna 210 with Simcoder's REP....a very good combination which brings systems and realism to the aircraft
  16. We do reviews of most sceneries....check it out here: http://www.avsim.com/index.php/_/reviews/scenery/review-narita-international-by-wing-creation-i-r3581
  17. A lot of things changed in the last Beta....weather injection is now a lottery above 16,000ft...winds do not match any weather engine you use and there are issues with cloud representation with some setups....also the control assignment allocation changes. Hope they fix it soon.
  18. Something about that TU-154 that keeps calling me....I might have to give in to the urge one of these days. I have the AN-24 and took me ages to learn it but it is great fun!
  19. There is a very good free LET-410, available at the Org website, or if you want a good challenge, the FELIS AN-24 is available for $10 at the Org, it is a piece of art.
  20. Indeed I was a real world pilot, was also witness in an accident where a 727 blew an engine on takeoff a few hundred meters from me and I watched the emergency landing, evacuation and the crash of a Fire tender into an uncharted ditch on the side of the taxiway injuring the occupants. I also participated in 2 emergency response exercises involving accidents with a Saab340 and a B737 to test emergency response and casualty treatment. How about you?
  21. ah great! this should bring some fixes to weather injection and a few other things....have been waiting (im)patiently.
  22. Yeah saw that, a bunch of armchair experts. The Fire Services were on the spot and hosing the fire within seconds. Same as wth QF32, the fire chief would have been in contact with the crew and advised the situation. The crew then made an assessment based on this information and turned out to be spot on. Good example of teamwork. What people tend to forget is that what you see in movies hardly ever occurs in real life. There are no massive explosions as soon as a tank is ruptured. The BAW 777 is Las Vegas suffered a violent failure which punctured tanks, you have unknown impact damage and that is a different story. This 777 had a leak, and fire fighting equipment was on the spot as soon as it landed.
  23. I think far more helpful would be stating why you are disappointed with the IXEG 737...just stating you are, is of very little help.
  24. 1.which plane is more graphicly pleasing - They are both made with slightly different methods, but both are quite good....I never actually liked the light brown in the 767 cockpit but that is how it was in the real world. 2.which has better systems. - At the moment the 767 has a more complete package but it's focus is on package rather than system accuracy...am not saying it is totally wrong, just that it works, but may not be 100% accurate. The IXEG aims for accuracy but in this quest, quite a few systems are not yet modelled or modelled as work-in-progress. Having said that, both aircraft are actually really good fun to fly, regardless of current state. There is nothing there that will stop you from using them as they were intended. 3.which is easier on frames. - They are both about the same, which is great news for everyone....very good frame-rate wise. So it really comes down to how you want to use them/what type of flying you wish to do/your preference for a wide bodied 767 or narrow body 737... I have both, and really enjoy them....I just wish the 767 would get the updates and attention the 737 gets from its developer....that is one thing that is truly setting a high bar at the moment....the IXEG team are standing by their product and very active in many forums assisting, gathering data and providing/receiving feedback. Good luck with your choice.
  25. Different mileage for everyone....I updated my old PC and have had no problems.....my wife updated her MUCH newer laptop and has had no end of problems.... I can see Win10 is a better operating system than W8 and even my old beloved W7 but forced updates (personally) don't think are the way to go.
