Help with Fanda Dash 8 installing

Featured Replies

Guys, I need some help.I've just downloaded the Dash 8, and do not know how to install it. I've read the notes and it tells me I need to click on the .exe file, which I found after doing a search: DH8-1004.EXE-190208DA.pfHowever, when I click on it, I get the Windows message telling me it cannot open this file.I've downloaded the FSUIPC.dll file, and it's right where it's meant to be in the Modules folder.I haven't seen an .exe file before with the extra bit on the end (-190208.pf). I tried removing this using the Rename function in Windows Explorer, and when I double-clicked on it the message I got didn't look pretty...I know I'm doing (or not) something dumb here, and hopefully someone can tell me. I've found a file that installed aircraft, and that ran perfectly well, it's just the .exe that causing me grief.Really, really hoping someone can help. The file took ages to download! Obviously I'm none too flash on this side of things, so could any explanation be in baby-talk please.Oh yeah, I've also downloaded the 2k4 update file as well. Thanks in advance,Tim

Do an "Extended search" in the library here for the following file name "dh8-1004.zip"Download that file (the only extension should be .zip) and also download the update files that are shown with that file.HTH

Vulcan, I did that. Thanks, but how does that fix my problem outlined in my post with the .exe file?Allblack

Thanks Don. I've had a look, but looks like I'm going back there.CheersTim

The only thing I can think of Allblack is that your download is corrupted or whatever you use to unzip the file has corrupted the EXE file.Windows will not be able to run that file with that 'nonsense' extension because it means nothing to Windows. If the EXE file was intact and that extension had just been added, removing the extension so the file name is 'dh8-1004.exe' should allow Windows to run it. However as you have tried removing that extension and Windows still gives an error I can only conclude the file is corrupt.Solution.Make sure your 'unzipper' unzips other ZIP files correctly and then try downloading again.HTH

Not wanting to take you away from the AVSIM forums by any means, but, check out the fanda Fan Site, (click on my sig below), then go to the forums. There is a gret bunch there that will be more then happy to help you out. In the mean time, I agree that your file is most likely corrupt and you may want to try and redownload it.
