June 14, 200421 yr I am not sure if it is just that my VC is not the best (Nvidia Ge Force 5200, 128mb), but when I set the Antialiasing at 2x, my fps drop from 29/30 to 14/16, unless I am flying at high altitude. Also when I check some gauges, such as the GPS it takes a couple of seconds for it to appeaer, and another couple of seconds to dissappear, and if I switch views when I get back to the main panel it comes slowly from the bottom as if I was rolling up a curtain. So, normally if I am not taking pictures I keep the antialising at "application controlled" and fps keep at 29/30.With the anisotropic settings I have no problem since it is set at 8x and doesn't seem to have any effect.Any trick I am missing? My PC is P4, 2.8 Ghz, 768Mb Ram, plus the VC I mention above.I have to mention my FS display settings are set high, but not at the highest. Thanks,Leo
June 14, 200421 yr Commercial Member The 5200 is a pretty awful video card honestly, it's Nvidia's low-end chip right now - get an ATI Radeon 9800 Pro and you'll have no problem running AA/AF... Ryan MaziarzFor fastest support, please submit a ticket at http://support.precisionmanuals.com
June 14, 200421 yr Moderator Do not use the AA in FS9 at all. Use the AA setting with your 5200's software driver.I have three FX5200 cards here on various flightstations and they are working just fine. Fr. June 14, 200421 yr I have an older system with a PIII 1ghz chip and an Nvidia Geforce 4MX 440 card (2x) with dual 17" monitors and I use the antialiasing done by FS9 with good success.I tried turning on the antialiasing from outside FS9 and my frame rates tanked. So unlike FS2002, the antialiasing option in FS9 seems to work pretty good for me.Of course I have an older system with a lower-end Nvidia card, but I get consistent frame rates around 20-22 with most the sliders at there maximum position.I know that my fps are low compared to a system as fast as yours, but you might try turning off the antialiasing from outside the sim and try selecting antialiasing from within FS9 before you put out the bucks for a different video card.Scott :-)
June 16, 200421 yr I personally leave antialiasing off and use the extra resources gained to increase the screen resolution. To me this looks as good or better with better framerates.regards,Dave
