No response to entry of transition altitude change in DES FORECAST?

Featured Replies

Hi Folks

in Tutorial #2 page 52 it calls to set the transition level of EHAM using the DES FORECAST page

So I did and i don't see any response or any change.

In FCOMv1 document (page 250 pdf) under Entering Descent Forecasts the last action to be take is:

EXEC key ......Push

Observe MOD DES FORCASTS page changed to ACT

I did not see any change after pressing EXEC, is it modeled ? should i get anything? where?

Thanks

Moshe

You missed out this part of the manual that is before the EXEC part

"DES FORECASTS page................................................................Select

Verify the TRANS LVL and revise if required. Enter average ISA DEV forecast for descent and destination QNH. Enter forecast descent WINDs (for up to three different altitudes)."

The main part is the ISA DEV, QNH, TAI and winds, these are the entries that require EXEC (execution). When they're inputted you will see "ACT DESCENT FORECAST" change to "MOD DESCENT FORECAST" which requires the execution, this changes the page title back to "ACT" again. You will also see the "Erase" option and EXEC light go on.

Transition level is the only input you don't need to execute.
