Finding Cockpit Items

Recommended Posts

Hey,

I recently purchased the Carenado PA46T. I really love it! But, as I start to use the checklists, I've discovered that I don't know where to find certain items on the checklist, in the cockpit.

I cant find the:

Door Pins

Emergency Gear Knob

ELT

Cabin Altitude selector

Cabin Altitube Rate Control

Cabin Pressurization Control

Oxygen Pressure gage

Oxygen Masks

Fuel Firewall Shut Off Lever

Power Control Lever (is this known as throttle too?)

Battery Select #1 (not the switch, the checklist says to check =24 VDC)

Fuelx-fer Pumps L%R

Emergencyx-fer Pump

Header Tank

Manual Override switch

What is the difference between alternator and Generator. Where do you find the alternator

Engine Trend Monitoring Fuel Engine Trend Monitoring AF TIme

Cabin Temperature

Supplemental Heater

Defroster

Saving System

Time Blockon

Volt Ammeter

Ice Protection

Electrical Heating

Stall Warning Heat

Propeller and Air in let Heat

What are all the electrical switches

Its a pretty long list! If anyone has time, could you please tell me where and what these things are? Help appreciated. Thanks.

I hope this helps-

Door Pins- The four small squares inside of the cabin door. Green means locked.

Emergency Gear Knob- The red knob under the gear handle. Does not function in sim.

ELT- Red switch by breaker panel on co-pilot's side.

Cabin Altitude selector- Between pilot's yoke and engine instruments and below the cabin altitude gauge.

Cabin Altitube Rate Control- The small knob on the Cabin Altitude selector.

Cabin Pressurization Control- The cabin altitude gauge.

Oxygen Pressure gage- None that I have ever found.

Oxygen Masks- Same as above.

Fuel Firewall Shut Off Lever- The lever at the base of the throttle quadrant. No function in sim.

Power Control Lever (is this known as throttle too?)- Yes.

Battery Select #1&#2 (not the switch, the checklist says to check =24 VDC)- The amp/volt readout is just above the throttle quadrant.

Fuelx-fer Pumps L%R- I believe it's the PUMP 1/PUMP 2 on- off switch.

Emergencyx-fer Pump- Emerg/Fuel switch on pilot's side brow panel.

Header Tank- Gauge HDR TANK above gear lever.

Manual Override switch- Small yellow button above throttle quadrant.

What is the difference between alternator and Generator. - http://wiki.answers.com/Q/What_is_difference_between_an_Alternator_and_a_Generator

Where do you find the alternator- STBY ALT switch on pilot's brow panel.

Engine Trend Monitoring Fuel Engine Trend Monitoring AF TIme- The ETM is to the right of the flaps switch.

Cabin Temperature- Large black knob above parking brake knob.

Supplemental Heater- CABIN HEAT switch on the Co-pilot's side brow panel.

Defroster- Large black knob on co-pilot's side above the Hobbs meter.

Saving System- ?

Time Blockon- Function of the ETM.

Volt Ammeter- Above throttle quadrant.

Ice Protection- Button panel above transponder.

Electrical Heating- Same.

Stall Warning Heat- Same

Propeller and Air in let Heat- Same.

What are all the electrical switches?- If you mean the buttons onthe sidewalls, those are breaker switches. The number on each one is the amp rating of the breaker. they do not function in sim.

Thanks so much for your help! I am going to print out your reply and use it to find the items I couldn't! Thanks very much for your help!

One more question, is there a button to switch on the alternator like there is for the generator?

The only alternator switch is the STANDBY ALT switch on the pilot's brow panel. In the Startin Gengine (Carenado's typo, not mine) checklist, it describes how to use the STANDBY ALT switch to recharge the batteries after engine start.

I am a bit confused, there are 3 buttons on the GPS of the PFD and the middle button there is LABELED "GEN" but its tooltip says "Alternator" and as you mentioned on the switch panel there is an Standby ALT switch. To make things more complicated on the left of the middle panel (almost underneath the windshield divider) there is a small grey button labeled "GEN RESET" but as soon as you push it it bounces back.

What is the real function of all of these?
