NGX doesn't save the changes in FMC

Featured Replies

Hi everyone,

I would have a problem and please help me if you can..

I changed things like 'callouts at 400 feet, 200 feet etc' in the FMC at equipments / EGPWS section, because I would love to hear the callouts continously during landing (as far as i remember callouts are activated for 100 and 500 feet by default [not 40,30,20,10].....

On the other hand I changed the 'panel state load' to cold and dark,

BUT nothing.... Whenever I load in the NGX everything starts from the default.... It is very annoying and I cannot do anything to fix it.... It simply cannot save the changes which were done previously...

The 'always start from cold and dark' is immedietaly out of the question anymore?

Because I really need to start from c and d, I wanna practice the startup.

Please help me somebody!!

Thank you! :)

Hi Marwan, You can change the default start-up state to whatever you choose. When you go to PMDG Setup, Start-up State .. be sure to click NEXT PAGE for more choices. C & D is one of them.

You need to set admin rights to your FSX folders, and run FSX as an admin.

yes thank you.. Basically I had no problem with finding that section in the MCDU, the only problem I have is the saving, it doesn't save that panel state for next time (it forgets everything I changed and starts from default every time..).

Thank you, but what do you mean by 'set admin rights to FSX folder'? I start the FSX in the following way, right click on the launcher (. exe) and run as admin. Is it not enough?

Could be. It's better to do this, though:

To do this, navigate to the Microsoft Games folder on your drive and:Right click on the Flight Simulator X folder:Select PropertiesSelect the Security tab at the topClick on the Users account in the Group boxIn the Permissions box, check the box Full ControlClick OKThe grants you (a User - Tron reference? :( ) and the programs you use in that folder admin rights to the folder. Essentially, what is happening is the computer is writing the changes (your key assignments) to a 'ghost' (Compatibility Files) folder, which the PMDG Options panel ignores the next time you run it. Using admin rights writes those changes to the actual file, not a file in a 'ghost' folder. As a quick note, if you have problems with any other program (especially when it comes to settings not saving, etc), you should grant admin rights to the program's location first before trying other things. UAC has its place in Windows, but it ends up being a bear if you don't know how to keep it in check.
