Very odd load times after not using FSX for 1 month

Featured Replies

So i just fired up FSX for the first time in about a month and I am having much much slower load times than I previously did. I have not uninstalled it or made any changes to the FSX file. I have, however, installed and uninstalled many programs since using FSX last. I am using an SSD so defragging really isnt an options. Just wondering if anyone has any suggestions before I need to complete the laborious task of a fresh install. Thanks in advance.

It's nothing unusual I think. While SSD should make this really fast, Windows 7 has a prefetch feature, which loads the FSX too in the background when used often. I feel it too after a longer time of non-usage. You should try using it for couple of days, see if it goes away.

Thanks for the advice. I will report back in a few days and let you guys know if there is any improvement.

Have you tried to add this line to the [Main] section of FSX.cfg?

DISABLEPRELOAD=1

Ill try that...but wouldnt disabling preload increase load times?

I doubt DisablePreload= will make any difference in what you are experiencing schwapm.

Like Word Not Allowed said, give it a few days of use and see if it has gotten better. I notice that load times always get better, no matter what program I am using, the more often that I use it.
