Bad Autothrottle!

Featured Replies

Hi all.. On some freewarepanels that I use, for example a panel for the 737-500, the autothrottle is going up and down, unable to hold right speed. This is only at low speeds during approach. I usually have to simply turn it off, but it would be neet if it would work properly... Any ideas? /johan

Have you tried flying any of the default jets, e..g the default B747 ?Try flying it on autopilot (AltHold and IASHold) at 3000 ft and 250 knots IAS.I believe you see'll the same effect there. The speed-hold function of the default FS autopilot didn't improve (to put it as mildly as I can :-( ) from FS2002 to FS2004.But you can influence this behaviour in the aircraft.cfg file.In the Autopilot section, reduce the value of:max_throttle_rate=0.100000to eg. 0.03.This limits the speed with which the throttles are adjusted by FS, hence this "oscillation" becomes much less. However with an obvious disadvantage: when you activate autothrottle when throttles are idle (eg. when you activate autothrottle at takeoff) the throttles creep very slowly to takeoff position.Cheers, Rob Barendregt
