Heading Bug / VOR Pointer

Featured Replies

Is anyone else experiencing a default heading bug & VOR pointer that show setting other than pointing to the North on startup? This happens on all aircrafts I have. How can I get them to start up in the default all pointing to North as it should? Thanks.

Did you save a default flight that had the heading bugs at other than North? Try setting all the bugs to North, select Flight, Save Flight, Name the flight TEST, check the "Make this the default flight", OK. Exit the flight simulator, then restart the flight simulator. It should use your new default TEST flight. Are the bugs at North. If so, your other default flight was saved with the bugs at other than North. If not, exit the flight simulator. Restart the flight simulator, select a flight menu, select your the original default flight, check the "Make this the default flight", OK. You can delete the TEST flight in your My DocumentsFlight Simulator Files folder. If you want to return to the original default flight supplied with FS2004, start the flight simulator, select a flight menu, arrow down in the top box to Other, select other, then select the default flight, check the "Make this the default flight", OK.If all else fails, rename fs9.cfg to fs9.old, restart the flight simulator, let it stabilize, Fly Now!, and see if the problem is corrected. If so, delete fs9.old. If not, delete the new fs9.cfg and rename fs9.old to fs9.cfg.W. Sieffert

Thanks a lot for the help. I'll certainly give your suggestion a try.

>>The "heading bugs" on real a/c don't reset themselves to>"north" while parked at the ramp, so why should the sim a/c?Just happen to have a "real" heading bug, parked in my garage. I'll check it now........No north here! It's at 160 degrees, right where I left it, a few weeks ago... :D L.Adamson

While we all know anything goes in the real world, I just wanted to confirm that I'm not missing something or that something is wrong in the "less than real" sim world. Anyone of you seen your heading bug off from the North in default startup (in the sim world), or is it just me?

Don't mind them, they're just old Curmudgeons!! :-lolWhoops! I forget, so am I!!! :-lolDid the directions I provided make any changes to the default conditions!?BTW, I checked the Citabria I have been flying lately, and it doesn't even have a heading bug much less a heading indicator. Leastwise, I don't have to keep adjusting the heading indicator due to gyro drift.Doesn't have any VOR NAV radios either. The GPS controls the COMM radios. We usually aren't going very far, so don't even punch in the airport location into the GPS.It does have a CD player, guess I'll have to get some "Top Gun" music going!W. Sieffert
