June 19, 200421 yr Are both the FS9 default roads and the USA Roads visable or can the FS9 default roads be "turned off"? If FS9 roads can not be turned off, are the distracting?

If FS9 roads can>not be turned off, are the distracting? You can use USA or FS9 (switch any time) but not both. However in dense city areas one problem is that the city landclass textures depict city blocks (w/roads) and of course these do not line up well with the actual accurate road data and can look like a jumbled mess. What will be needed are new landclass textures striped of all road imagery as well as perhaps an AutoGen tag of odd buildings to follow certain types of roads, much the same as certain roads have utiliy poles etc...But in the meantime this is as good as it's gonna get,...one step at a time. :-)
June 20, 200421 yr Actually, I find that using USA roads for major roads provides a nice compromise. With EVERY road visible, it is very evident where landclass and roads clash. Especially in Urban areas. But with just the major roads installed, you still get freeways and highways and it looks really nice, but the side roads are relegated to what is shown in the texture tiles.Granted, using USA roads just for major roads doesn't allow you to find your house, but on the other hand, it makes those rural roads stick out less. It's a matter of preference, but I find that even with the "hiccups" caused by inaccuracies in coastlines, lakes, and such, it definitely improves your VFR experience.
