August 28, 201213 yr While I am dealing with a Win7-64 reinstall, actually completed today, I had noticed before this, after I updated to Beta 9, the CH yoke i use became extremely response, in fact all my controls became extremely responsive, reacting on a 1:1 basis and thereby nearly always flying extremely erratically. I am debating about re-installing XPX and leaving it at 10.5rc1, but from reading other threads, beta 9 doesn't seem to be that bad. What am I missing. I do calibrate the HW, but to no avail. Also, a related qn. When I click on the Calibrate joysticks, am I supposed to get the "Now wiggle all connected joysticks" etc dialog or not. Coz nothing happens now. August 28, 201213 yr I think if you hit the Calibrate Joystick Hardware, and if you have calibrated them in the past, you don't get the dialogue but you do need to run your yoke axis through there movements again. I sometimes do this and it seems to help. In fact after starting the sim the first think I do is run my yoke and pedals through their full movements. Thats while I am in the cockpit and not looking at the settings page. I use the CH Flightsim Yoke and do find that once in a while I have to recalibrate them in the CH native Control Manager, not an everyday occurrence, but every few months I do and it seems to help as the assignments apparently drift a bit. Also you probably already know but you can go into the Null zone page and set the stability augmentation settings. and the linear control. I know some people think or feel this is cheating, but I don't think that, our equipment ages and things change, so I set mine up to feel the best for me, and what feels best for me. If your yoke or as in my case my CH pedals are very twitchy, so I set a larger null zone. Experiment for what feels best and most right for you. Don't be afraid to set the stability augmentation settings if you need them. Donald E. Donovan Flying is the 2nd greatest thrill known to man The 1st is landing.
August 28, 201213 yr Author Hi Donald, the CH control manager software is one thing I haven't used since win7...in fact in 10.5rc1 it didn't need it, but the moment i put in beta 9, it went bonkers. I remember beta 8 also had the same problem for me. I did try adjusting in the nullzone settings and went linear vs the other extreme, absolutely no changes. Problem is, since my FSX is down, I can't figure out if the CH yoke gave up on me after nearly 6 yrs of abuse :Just Kidding: or was it 8, i forget. Thanks for the tip on the control manager, I have to go find it and give it a try. August 28, 201213 yr Author In a complete volta-face of events, I started XPX this morning, and I had connected my X52 just to test it. But lo and behold came the calibrate screen. I did that and the acft behaved unbelievably steady, I was able to make a sweet short flight fully under control. I just don't get what happened earlier. I am assuming connecting the new H/W prompted the calibrate screen which I couldn't get earlier. Cheers!! Charan EDIT: I did turn off R/W weather, I am wondering if that had something to do with it. Oh Well. I will leave it off for now. Also forgot to mention, today's flight was with the CH yoke, the X52 was just connected never used.
