New PC and FS9 - Feeling Totally Frustrated!

I just got around to following up on a suggestion made by Appliance earlier. He suggested I download the freeware version of MyTraffic 4.1 and see if that made a difference. I did and BINGO! At KDFW with a massive amount of MyTraffic AI, I had FPS between 48-60. With my other AI aircraft it would have been in the teens... Someone else mentioned the problem of missing textures or effects for AI and I think that's possibly the culprit. It might take a while to track it down, but it's definitely a problem with some of my WoAI aircraft that I transferred over from the old PC. I still have a few other small issues to iron out, but I think by the end of this week I will finally have that dream of FS running with everything maxed and smooooooothhhh fps!

THANK YOU to all of you who contributed. Even where suggestions were made that didn't solve the problem, many of them have resulted in other improvements. It's pathetic that an issue like this should bug me so much, but I really feel like I've had a heavy weight lifted off my shoulders

Thanks guys - you're awesome

Ian

Hi Ian,

Just a word, as I had this issue before. your AI do they have Shock wave lights in the .cfg? if that is true, make sure that you have the 3d Shock wave light installed. other wise just remove the setting, and use the normal one.

I had to bang my head against the wall for some times, until I realized that I did not install the A2A lights, and all my aircraft where configured to use it. That brought my performance to the single digit. After the installation all went back normal.

So I don't know if you use the A2A light, but just a point of referral.

Good luck

Hani

Good suggestion Hani as I do have the A2A lights and have them configured for my AI, but I had reinstalled them and did so again just to be sure. No difference but was worth a try!

There was a tool recently posted on the FSX forum, about a dxt adjuster...it basically fixed missing alpha channels. It works for FS9 too...if you have a safe backup, try running that tool and see if that helps with the fps.
